First of all, I wish I were able to give this game a mixed review, but here we are! Dead Space 3 is a good game, however, it feels downgraded in most areas - like gameplay, storyline, etc. And on top of that, we're not getting the full game, you need to buy the Awakened DLC to play the last portion / act of the game. Speaking of DLCs, yes, the game's newly introduced crafting system is highly depended on its DLCs, and seriously speaking, the crafting system sucks in this game. Both the Dead Space 1 and 2 were absolutely gems - great storytelling, great characters, great pacing, much better gameplay considering their release timings, and also, NO EA PLAY DRM on those games, but for some weird reason, Dead Space 3 has this crappy EA Play Launcher on the Steam version. That makes it even harder sometimes to launch the game properly! Also you can only carry only 2 weapons at a single time, unlike 4 in previous Dead Space games. Also the story DLC has much worse price - to - value ratio compared to the base game, even on sale! Ending the main game with a big cliffhanger and then suddenly giving us a story DLC instead of a sequel is beyond injustice that EA has done to this franchise! Ultimately, this was a very, very bad way to end the trilogy, considering the fact that we're not getting Dead Space 4 ever, but who knows, right!? Talking about the storyline, they somehow ruined Isaac Clarke's character writing and the overall story pacing that made Dead Space 1 and 2 great. Overall, if you have completed both Dead Space 1 (Classic or Remake) and Dead Space 2, then yeah buy Dead Space 3 on sale and also get the Awakened DLC together or later whenever you want, as the main story is totally unfinished as I mentioned earlier. Cannot discuss story related spoilers here, but yeah , ultimately, EA butchered Dead Space with this third part!

I have a lot to say about Dead Space 3. It's moments like this, that I wish steam had a neutral option. The game isn't bad, it's everything else surrounding it that is. 1. Steam Deck Users, this game does work, but only in Desktop mode. Gaming mode would not work, despite being labeled as "Playable". You also need a controller since it doesn't recognize the steam decks built in controller for some reason. 2. You cannot play this game without an EA account or the EA app running in the background. It's essential. You need to be online, even to play the single player aspect of the game. 3. The EA app turns your mic on by default. If you play this game, be sure to disable your microphone or mute it. Also, don't bother adding your friends on the EA app. Private lobbies do not work at all. You have to make a public game to play with your friends. 4. In order to get the full story, you have to play the game in Co-op. You won't have access to Carver's side missions. 5. The base game has an ending, which to me, can be seen as the good ending, and the overpriced 1 hour long expansion "Awakened" is the bad ending. If you can get past all of that, I do recommend playing it, but get it on sale. Don't pay full price for this game. Now, for the game itself, I've played this game multiple times, and I think it is a bit overhated. Completely justified as it is a departure from 1 and 2, but as a game on its own, it's pretty solid. The crafting system can be a bit overwhelming, especially coming off of the previous 2 games, but once you understand it, you can make some insanely overpowered weapons. Ammo is universal now, which for this game being more fast paced makes sense. The health system on the other hand, doesn't. The game gives you health pick ups non stop, and I just have to ask, why not just give the player regenerating health? The story is okay. We get more lore on the Marker and how other species dealt with them. The love triangle was unnecessary, thankfully, it didn't take up too much time. And Carver as a character was interesting enough. Without those side missions, he's a blank slate, but with them, he's a great archetype to explore with the Marker and its affects on the mind. As a conclusion to the trilogy, it could have been way worse. Just saying.

It's much better than the negative reviews would lead you to believe. It's Deadspace. Action horror. Always has been. I've only ever died once in DS1 and DS2 on normal difficulty. The games have always been action forward. That's the charm, when you aren't constantly dying, you have the space to get properly scared. Yes the game has leaned into its shooter elements more, and definitely has more shooting gallaries. Yes the weapon crafting allows you to make some incredibly powerful weapons that trivializes a lot of the fodder enemies. Yes the soap opera love triangle ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feels like it has no place in this story. Yes the game is built with co-op in mind and solo players are going to see those "co-op only" side missions and chuff a bit. Yes, there are sections where you just fight humans instead of necromorphs. But the game is damn fun. The lore is fun. The new mechanics are fun. The level layout of the first quarter of the game is inspired. Don't let the negging on this turn you away. If you like Dead Space, you will like this. You will be a little disappointed with some of the choices, you'll love other choices, but you'll be glad you played it.

Here's my honest opinion, I like Dead Space 3, but clearly not as much as the first two games. Everything from Ch.1 to Ch. 13 (or whatever section is the cliff climbing part) is great, its everything afterwards where i start disliking the game. Just the whole alien species thing just rubs me the wrong way. I'm not gonna go too in depth but I like the weapon crafting (to a certain point) however, I do agree it takes away from the specialness of the guns in DS. I actually like Carver as a character and hope if they ever make a DS4 he will be the main focus with his dementia. I HEAVILY dislike the lack of suits in this game, more suits = more fun. I also am very disappointed that EA abandoned the ration seal aspect of the BENCH, basically locking out a lot of MK2 and MK5 parts Edit: if you are looking to get the MKV parts or the DLC suits, just use cheat engine 7.3, there's a guy on youtube who made a video on how to use it. Look up "Dead Space 3 unlock all suits with cheat engine (Tabman)". Yes, you can get the DLC stuff, weapon parts and suits included for free with Cheat Engine. Its a little scary at first if this is your first time doing it but rest assured it is safe to use

This game has received a way more mixed reception than Dead Space 1 and 2 mainly due to things like the complete lack of horror and even more focus on action, alongside the bad story, and I can understand these (I mean yeah, a love triangle plot in Dead Space of all franchises? What?). But if you don't think of these aspects much, I think it's a solid shooter. The Necromorph dismembering gameplay is still awesome, the rare human enemies offer a nice challenge, there's quite a bit of collecting and upgrading involved and two of the best additions to the game are weapon crafting and coop. The weapon crafting feature allows you to make absolute killing machines that can turn every fight into a joke and the coop mode with Carver as the second player is a lot of fun. You can tell the game even really was made with coop in mind with some of the cutscenes and the gameplay elements. The coop mode also has exclusive missions for it that are fun to go through and have good rewards, which makes it even more worthwhile. The game also has 3 more game modes after you beat it for the first time, those being Pure Survival, Classic and Hardcore. Pure Survival has a stronger focus on resource management, Classic forces you to only use Dead Space 1 weapons and Hardcore is permadeath. If you want to play the game in a slightly different way and challenge yourself, these might be good for you. I'd give this game a rating of 7.5/10. If you are looking for horror like with Dead Space 1 and 2 you will be disappointed, but if you also want more Necromorph dismembering action, potentially with a friend, then I think it's a decent game overall.
