This game is so much fun. I'm sure most of the people checking this out came from playing phasmophobia just like me. Note- It's quite a bit different, but in a good way. If you like the investigating part of phasmo with gathering evidence, then get this game or at least try the demo! NGL my first game I was struggling even after the tutorial, but I watched a youtube video from mattchewie888 "if you play deathwatchers you need to see this" and that really helped. There are currently 3 game modes, with customizations. I've only played the deathwatchers mode, but even that has tons of replayability with each round not the same as the previous. I will be putting many many many hours playing this.. I hope this game becomes big!

DEATHWATCHERS is an atmospheric and tension-driven cooperative horror experience that takes the familiar framework of ghost-hunting and transforms it into something more methodical, investigative, and deeply unsettling. Developed and published by Swain Games, it places players in the role of paranormal investigators dropped into hostile, haunted environments where the goal isn’t simply to survive—it's to observe, document, and ultimately banish whatever entity occupies the space. From its earliest moments, the game establishes a suffocating sense of dread through its dimly lit interiors, unpredictable phenomena, and a constant feeling that something unseen is watching your every move. While playable alone, DEATHWATCHERS is crafted with co-op at its core, and its tension is magnified tenfold when shared with friends. At the heart of the experience is a careful blend of observation and deduction. Each investigation involves combing through rooms looking for anomalies—flickering lights, moving objects, unusual sound cues, temperature shifts, electromagnetic spikes, or more grotesque manifestations. The game rewards methodical play: setting up equipment, reviewing footage, logging anomalies, and piecing together clues to determine the components of the ritual needed to banish the haunting. Every run becomes a puzzle, and the way clues emerge naturally in the environment gives the game a grounded feel. Rather than relying heavily on jump scares, DEATHWATCHERS builds fear through silence, anticipation, and a steady escalation of paranormal activity as the entity grows more aggressive. Equipment management adds another strategic layer. Before entering a location, you choose what tools to bring—cameras, UV lights, scanners, audio recorders, and various forms of detection gear. Limited inventory forces you to coordinate with your partners, dividing responsibilities and deciding who carries what. As the investigation unfolds, you will frequently need to relocate equipment, re-check earlier rooms, and keep track of which clues correspond to which ritual components. The result is a constant back-and-forth between reconnaissance and risk, because the longer you stay inside, the more the haunting intensifies. A well-timed discovery can feel exhilarating, but staying too long invites danger that can abruptly spiral out of control. Cooperative play is where the game truly shines. DEATHWATCHERS encourages communication and teamwork at all times, requiring players to share findings, debate interpretations, and coordinate safe routes based on the entity’s movements. Some of the most memorable moments arise organically—one player panicking while scanning a hallway, another shouting warnings over the radio, a third sprinting to regroup after hearing something stalk them down a corridor. The unpredictability of the entity’s behavior keeps every moment tense; some spirits lurk quietly and ambush without warning, while others stalk openly and force constant repositioning. The AI feels reactive and genuinely threatening, adding to the game’s oppressive atmosphere. However, DEATHWATCHERS does have rough edges, some tied to its ongoing development and others inherent to its design. The learning curve is steep, and the game does little hand-holding beyond its lengthy tutorial. Understanding how events are categorized, how to interpret logs, and how to deduce the correct ritual components can feel overwhelming for newcomers. The interface, while functional, sometimes lacks clarity, and minor mechanical quirks—unintuitive controls, missing prompts, or unclear tool interactions—can lead to confusion. Content variety is another limitation: with only a handful of maps and a finite number of event types, some players may feel the investigations become repetitive over time, especially when playing solo. Despite these shortcomings, the core atmosphere and tension remain compelling. Every investigation feels like entering a puzzle-box filled with danger, and every success—whether identifying the haunting, completing the ritual, or simply surviving—hits with a satisfying sense of accomplishment. The game’s sound design, from distant creaks to unnatural whispers, is particularly effective at maintaining a constant undercurrent of fear. The dim lighting, cramped environments, and unpredictable event triggers ensure that even familiar rooms never feel entirely safe. Ultimately, DEATHWATCHERS succeeds as a smart and unnervingly immersive cooperative horror game that blends strategy, deduction, and nerve-wracking encounters into a uniquely captivating experience. It is best suited to players who enjoy slower-paced, cerebral horror rather than action-heavy experiences. While it may lack polish in places and has room to grow in terms of variety, its foundation is strong, and its atmosphere is gripping. For groups of friends seeking a fresh take on paranormal investigation—with more emphasis on puzzle-solving and creeping dread than loud scares—DEATHWATCHERS offers a richly tense and memorable journey into the unknown. This is a fantastic game, if you're expecting a clone of Phas or other similar ghost hunting games, you won't get it here (and it's for the best). It's a very unique concept and games last a fair amount of time while you gather enough evidence to determine what ritual needs to be used. It's randomised every time so every game will be different. It's also one of the only ghost hunting games where playing with less people isn't so punishing - in fact, so much tends to happen at once that you find yourself racing around trying to capture all the clues and not miss anything. The classic mode (security cam mode) is so much fun and one of the only multiplayer variants of that game type that I've found. It's extremely challenging and success is not guaranteed every run - if you miss something, you'll end up behind and under a lot of pressure to find clues. To top it off, the dev is so helpful and responsive in the Discord server, and seems to be continually updating and improving the game. If you have run out of ghost hunting games and are looking for something a little different, this one is for you!
