So I don't usually go for these kinds of games, but I ended up really enjoying it. Tearing down houses, looting and packing a van, it's actually pretty fun. The only thing that I wish the developers would look at is this really cute bunny plush in a red polka dot dress. This plush is both my favorite animal and we have matching dresses so naturally I made sure to save her and a teddy bear who somehow survived the whole house demo. (He was a fighter so I brought him too.) After arriving to the warehouse, I set them on the desk so I could have some friends join me at the computer in the warehouse. To avoid penalties at loose items, I would move them to the inside of a spare van right before the end of the day and this worked pretty well for a bit. I loved having the little guys to return to, and it was cute seeing them in the otherwise construction-y setting. Then heartbreak, I accidentally ended a day at a jobsite before I could move them to my spare van and they were confiscated as loose items.... I understand warehouse cleanliness but they were my company mascots.... I actually put the game down for a day when I lost them to grieve. It makes me pretty sad there is no way to make them a decoration in the office. So developers, if you read this, I would love to be able to set that cute Bunny plush in the warehouse office. It would mean the world to me. ^,^
Eh, it's... okay overall. Basically, you are sabotaged by a big-time company who sends you to wreck the wrong house, and you set out on your own as an independent wrecker and salvager of houses. That's about it for the story; after around $50k profit, you get a little text saying you showed your previous employer they were jerks and you are awesome and also here's the credits. The actual game is pretty fun. You can take apart entire houses with a sledgehammer, or you can rent out a wrecking ball to speed things up. Clients will sometimes want you to salvage items beforehand and put it in a moving van, and typically this is pretty straightforward. If you're wrecking a house, anything you can salvage like small items in a collection bin, furniture that fits in your vehicle, even piling the debris into recycling bags will all give you profit. That's why I recommend you pick the house demolishing jobs because they are simple and sweet. Jobs where clients just want you to break in some walls are, conversely, an enormous pain in the rear. Sometimes they still want you to pack stuff into a moving van, but even if they don't want that you have about a 90% of damaging/breaking something and incurring penalties to your pay. Unless you spend around 15-20 minutes packing up stuff anywhere remotely near the walls and putting them somewhere out of the way, they're probably going to get busted up. Moreover, these jobs typically don't pay as well as house demolishing jobs. So you're spending more time and resources for less pay and more penalties. Avoid wall-wrecking jobs like the plague. The last mechanic I want to talk about is packing stuff into your vehicle of choice. You start with a moving van and can eventually upgrade to a full truck. You can pick up, rotate, and flip around furniture and things to try and get the most space out of your vehicle. This is fun, but... well, really wonky and kind of stupid sometimes. Stuff that really should fit the way you position it doesn't, and the mouse cursor is really janky about positioning as you're putting stuff down. Sometimes, if the margin is thin enough, just releasing the mouse button to place the item will place it just slightly out of alignment and put it right back in your hands, with its position reset and forcing you to try again. Really, really frustrating in a game where time is a precious resource. Overall, I slightly recommend this game, on a sale. There's a lot of frustrating flaws, but overall still fun enough for me to 100% the achievements.
Great game and it was very enjoyable to play. I did find that sometimes the time limit version makes it to where you can't grab a lot of items so I would just say, freak it, and destroy the whole place in a few min and then just clean up. If you have a set up like mine then I would suggest turning off the day night cycle as while the sun rays look fantastic it did ramp the FPS to where my computer would slow down but once turned off it ran great. Great game though.
Absolutely awesome. Once you get to a certain point obviously it can get repetitive, but there's enough different things to do that you can mix it up on every job. Wanna be precise and collect the building materials and furniture? Go for it. Wanna turn the whole lot to rubble and just recycle what fits in the truck? Also valid. Great game. No complaints.
Deconstruction Simulator has a pretty basic but satisfying gameplay loop. 1. Customer puts out a contract to have some kind of work done like removing a couple walls or recovering furniture from a house. 2. Contractor (The player) accepts the contract, shows up, and does required work. 3. Customer returns to find that you have also stolen all of the doors, windows, furniture and personal belongings from the house to make extra profit. 4. Sell everything to Cash who is essentially a fence at this point. 5. Rinse and repeat. Overall I would give this game a recommend. It could stand to use a little more variety in terms of houses and jobs just to keep things a little more fresh and interesting. For the price however, it was a fun little game that kept me occupied in my downtime and I found no major game breaking flaws or crashes in the 20 some hours I put into it.
