I feel like after most of the day playing Desk Pets, I have a firm grasp of the mechanics and what you do with it. For those who don't remember a long time ago between 1996 and 2010 there was a CD ROM game for PC called DOGZ, CATZ, ODDBALLZ, and then later towards 2010 there was PETZ a combination of DOGZ and CATZ 5 in one program. With that said virtual pets were extremely popular during this time. I'm not one for the whole 8-bit look sometimes but this game brings back so much nostalgia towards those games. It reminds me so much of them in fact that I had this game running most of the day while at work today. I love the spin that is placed on it as it is a rendition of those games explained above and tamagotchi's which I've always loved tamagotchi's I actually still have mine. But this is a cute and cozy little idle time waster if you need something to cure the boredom or bring a little joy and pizzaz during your day. I played this while working and it's very easy to pick up and put down. You can also minimize the entire game if you need to focus but keep it running in the background to get more items and food which is nice. This game works great on both IMac and PC I've tried it on both and everything is super smooth. For the fridge I love that you can bulk collect into the fridge without hovering the mouse over each individual food item, thank goodness! However, I can't say the same for the coins you get from the mini game for 35 coins to play. I last pretty long and my desktop gets smothered in coins and you have to hover over each individual coin this takes up to about 3-5 minutes and there is no immediate magic button to pick them all up and honestly? I really wish there was. Same with the items bag like for the wood and rocks, etc. I feel just like the fridge there should be a mass collect option. I know for a fact, I have yet to discover all this cute little game has to offer, it honestly has kept my attention and though I was planning to go play another game and have this running at one point for some reason I just couldn't I had to stick with Desk Paws. Also, what makes it even better is the gacha system, I love that as it turns it almost into a pet collector as well. I also really love that you can name all your tiny pets. Overall, I love Desk Pets and I'm really glad I got it at a discounted rate from the Steam sale. Its' the game I wasn't planning on getting that I didn't know I needed but apparently really did. I will update later as I continue to explore! Hope this helps someone if you're on the fence considering to buy it.

Desk Paws is a cute pet collection desktop game. The pets are cute, with a large variety to collect and even more color variants to unlock via breeding. The aesthetics are perfect, with a retro Win '98 feel to the windows, vivid colors, and great pixel designs of all the pets, rooms, and house options. There are even different scrolling backgrounds when you send pets out on adventures. It looks like the art was done with a lot of care and effort. The claw machine mechanic has been fixed. As long as you line up the claw so it will pick something up, the pets no longer fall out before the claw reaches the prize chute. My original review was negative due to the old mechanics. Now that this has changed, there's nothing catastrophically frustrating to deal with.

Feels really slow to progress even for an idle game, but it's so fucking adorable that I don't care, and I'm keeping it open for eternity. Definitely the cutest out of the "bottom of your screen" idle game trend. Also reminds me of some toy I had in the early 2000s called Pixel Chix so it gets bonus nostalgia points. I would raze entire nations for Pupu Rat, he brings me so much joy. Bless the Pupu Rat. Edit: Okay after leaving this open for almost 3 days, I absolutely love this little game. I squeak with joy every time I see a cute new animal and colour variants from breeding. Best purchase I've made in a long time. Also the dev(s) are super friendly which just makes me love the game even more. Actual cutest game ever. Bought the supporter pack because I loved it so much, which I never do.

𖹭 A Truly Magical Idle Sim! 𖹭 I've only just began my Desk Paws journey, but this is like the desk pet of my dreams! The calm and cutesy vibes remind me of my childhood growing up with Tamagochi's, Pixel Chix, and GirlsGoGames. There are so many adorable magical pets to collect and the customization is varied! There are a lot of helpful settings to cater to your needs such as muting options, auto-collecting, and timers so your little pets can work while you also work or play! Every room, pet, outfit, and mini game is oozing with personality and for idle game lovers I could not recommend this game enough! If I were to add anything I would like more music options! The ambient sounds are nice and relaxing but I hope in the future we might get some peppy music to listen to like we hear in the trailer while taking care of our little Desk Paws. definitely one of the more higher quality games to come from the 'bottom of your screen' idler games trend! it doesn't leave you with that "well. guess thats it." feeling after progressing. very interactive and customizable ++. slows down considerably but its easy to obtain the little dudes, i mean its an idler lol let it sit there and look pretty. i love the claw mechanic and the gachapon system. so many silly lil guys to fling. fumi my beloved. i can tell this is gonna be big and hope to see the team develop more :) !! loved the demo. buy the supporters pack <3
