One of those times I wish I could leave a "mixed" rating. I love this game. Played the Wii version like crazy back when I still had friends (thanks Dokapon). And while I do recommend this version of the game overall, since the net play is solid, plus some small, but appreciated QoL changes, there could've been way more QoL changes. Namely, the music. Listening to same song and jingles for hours and hours on end actually made me contemplate being productive. As well as better pacing to speed up redundancy. Original game had these issues too of course, but again adding new music would've been appreciated especially when considering the NEXT and most AGGREGIOUS flaw with this port. The price. $50 is an absurd asking price for this game. $25 is the absolute limit it should cost. What's worse, is this port has a lot of censorship. Really stupid censorship too. This means that this version of the game actually has noticeably less value version that you can emulate on Dolphin for free. If you can deal with the occasional dropped connections in the dolphin version (save often), I'd recommend that version way more. I still bought this because I want more Dokapon. So sadly, that means supporting lesser ports, but honestly, dissapointing.

Most things in this game are good, but not when playing against AIs. They clearly cheat. Whenever an AI is about to lose, it somehow becomes a Darkling, then goes around the overworld destroying towns. This happens constantly. Job grinding is also way too boring and time-consuming. Unlocking rare jobs like Hero or Robo Knight takes an absurd amount of time. By the time you finally get them, you’re already at a high level, so the reward isn’t worth the effort. On top of that, grinding these jobs requires huge amounts of money and levels, which makes it pointless if you’re trying to stay in first place.| The story is super bland. I don’t want to spoil it, but honestly, it kinda sucks — 2/10 for the storyline. This game feels like a downgraded version of Dokapon Fury Sword. When the game is about collecting towns, how are you supposed to do that when the AI turns into Darkling almost every week and wipes the map? hey, level 20 AI what you gonna do? go darkling and boom... level 40 hey, level 40 AI what you gonna do? go darkling and boom... level 60 you know what? it's super boring when you want to collect everything in this game meanwhile you have to collect towns again every time the Darkling use his spell to summon all monsters to all towns All my assets disappear!!! The real problem is that the AI isn’t actually smart. Instead of making better decisions, the game just inflates their luck and lets them cheat. What makes it worse is that all three AI difficulty levels feel exactly the same. The only difference is how often the AI is allowed to “cheat.” They don’t outplay you — they just flip a switch and become Darkling whenever the game decides they should, like “damn, I’m losing” → Darkling. had to come up with a strategy where I don’t level up too far ahead of the last-place AIs, just to prevent them from turning into Darklings. Honestly, playing with friends and hating them is better than playing against the AI. I still keep playing this game because, honestly, it’s fun when you take advantage of others and destroy their mind.

I beat up my friends and the game renamed them for me: Cap’nUseless, King of Lame and Milquetoast. Made some of them bald too. Now they are plotting revenge. 10/10 pure chaos

If you've ever thought Mario Party wasn’t quite brutal enough, Dokapon Kingdom: Connect is here to show you what real betrayal looks like. This re-release of the cult-classic party-RPG hybrid throws turn-based combat, board game chaos, and RPG systems into a blender—and hits the "backstab" button. Originally released on the PlayStation 2 and Wii, Dokapon Kingdom carved out a niche as the "friendship-ending game", and Connect adds online multiplayer to bring that drama to the global stage. So yes, you can now ruin relationships remotely. At its core, Dokapon Kingdom: Connect is a mash-up of RPG mechanics and board game strategy. Up to four players take turns moving across a sprawling map filled with towns to liberate, monsters to fight, and loot to collect. Your goal? Accumulate the most wealth—whether by saving towns, stealing from rivals, or causing general mayhem. The game is turn-based, but randomness rules all: spin wheels for movement, guess enemy attacks in rock-paper-scissors-style combat, and prepare to suffer ridiculous events. One moment you're the town hero; the next, you're cursed, bald, poisoned, broke, and in debt to a magic duck. It’s chaos—but intentional chaos. The RPG elements are surprisingly deep: you can level up, change classes, equip weapons, learn spells, and sabotage your opponents in creative ways. But don’t expect fairness. The comeback mechanics can be savage, and no lead is ever safe. The biggest draw of Connect is online multiplayer. The original game was couch-only, but this version lets you scheme, deceive, and insult your friends from afar. Matchmaking is smooth, and online play is mostly stable—though connection hiccups can still be disruptive during longer games (which can stretch into hours or even days). Voice chat isn’t built-in, but trust that you’ll want Discord open to hear your friends scream when you rob their hard-earned gold or change their name to something embarrassing. The graphics are faithful to the original—bright, cartoonish, and clean, but definitely dated. Don’t expect a visual overhaul. It’s colorful and functional, but not impressive. The soundtrack is cheerful and loop-friendly, even if some tracks wear thin over long sessions. Still, the charm lies more in the absurdity of the gameplay than in flashy visuals. What sets Dokapon Kingdom apart isn’t just the blend of genres—it’s the psychological warfare. This is a game where revenge is a legitimate strategy. Alliances form and dissolve. Friendships are tested. You can shave your enemy’s head, curse their stats, or steal their girlfriend. And then wave as they drop to dead last because of it. And yet, you’ll keep coming back. Dokapon Kingdom: Connect is not for the faint of heart—or the short of patience. It’s chaotic, unfair, hilarious, and endlessly replayable with the right group of people. The addition of online play makes this the definitive way to experience a game that’s half party, half RPG, and 100% sabotage. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you when your group chat goes silent for a week. A gloriously unfair mix of RPG strategy and party-game anarchy—now with Wi-Fi-powered betrayal. Rating: 8/10
