8/10 Great game, 2d tactical shooter, various classes allowing replayability to each level. it has multiplayer. most of my time in this game was co-op couch play. great for a gaming session with a friend.

This is really a simple game about going level to level and shooting bad guys. There is no story, just a bunch of levels to complete. Even though there isn't much to it, I played this with my sister and we both enjoyed it. That being said, despite what the trailer would (for some reason) have you believe, this game is also just as viable single-player because the game doubles the amount of resources you get. Assault, Breacher, and Off-Duty Guy are the best classes and it's fun to spam smoke grenades and literally have the enemies never see you even as you're shooting them. However, the levels do get more difficult over time, especially if you want to save all the hostages and get all of the stars, so you do have to try hard to some extent. Breacher definitely becomes less viable in that case due to those darn silly shotgun pellets; but then again, if all you want to do is unga-bunga, then he is still the strongest class in the game. Overall, this is a game that makes you go "just one more level" and the next thing you know, a whole hour has passed. You can play it solo or co-op, be serious and save all the hostages or go guns blazing and mow down everything in sight. I think if you want a simple game that's easy to pick up and just blast down some bad guys for a while, you should try this out.

★★★☆☆ Another proof that genre is just a formality, if core idea is really good. Action Squad is a spin-off of[url=store.steampowered.com/app/248610/Door_Kickers/] Door Kickers , but instead of thoughtful planning and preparation it's a reckless room cleaning action in Hotline Miami style. Dozens of levels, a good variety of enemies and great map design. Wonderful soundtrack. As in the original game, story is none. Only harsh police routine. This is as much a love letter to classic arcades as what Ion Maiden/Ion Fury did for Build Engine shooters. They didn't have to, but I'm glad they did. Co-op is not required, but people with friends say it's even more fun.
