This is such an exquisite game of Tower Defense, it deserves all its accolades. Do not be intimidated by its pixel art as it's easier to tell creeps apart than TD games with more surface detail. The use of size, color and movement all combine to make each type of creep unique in a spasm of bodies. The wave counters down the side are a hallmark of the Dungeon Warfare series, giving you creep counts by type so you know what to expect in a wave. I do miss the ability to call waves early like in DW2, and the little bit you can call early is a slight frustration as you wait for the button to show up (in DW2 you can just click on the wave number). As I returned to play this AGAIN all the way through as I'm waiting on DW3, I continue to marvel at the environment and how exquisite and useful the walls, pits and trains are to allowing you the freedom to path to your hearts content. The replayability of runes to add difficulty (and thus XP if you can complete the level again with a set of runes that make enemies faster, more health, regen, or more weight, along with other runes to increase consumable trap time, or limiting towers, you get sufficient rewards. Complete a map with 4 runes and endless for that map is unlocked. While you need to better your previous score to gain more XP on subsequent tries, the amount of gems continues to grow to hoard size, allowing you even more flexibility in distributing those gems: More powerful traps? More starting gold? The original Dungeon Warfare deserves to be played and this series is one of the reasons so many are eagerly anticipating DW3 to be released later in 2025.

Dungeon Warfare is a very nice tower defense strategy game in which you have to stop a horde of invading heroes in each level. To achieve this goal, you have a variety of traps and weapons at your disposal and combining them in the right places leads to success. There are a lot of levels and if they aren't enough for you, you can create your own.

Almost the TD game I've been waiting for. I completed two thirds of this but the last third is really quite tough and I'm not up for the effort. I liked it a lot though, good tower defence game.

I probably got this from some bundle, and a steam game random play next popped it up. Looks like this was one of the old greenlight projects that was of course grrenlit. It is a suprisingly entertaining tower defense game with trap type unlocks and leveling up. I am not sure it adds anything new to the genre, but does the TD thing well enough.
