This game is very cool and I highly recommend it. I should also add that the recommended specs are not lying. Despite the game's simplistic graphics, it is not well optimized. Boss fights tend to tank FPS a lot on low spec systems. I think the boss named "The Killer" should be renamed "The Frame Rate Killer."

I recommend playing this game with no guides, just write what u find in ur notebook. The only gripe I have so far is the low FOV that makes me motion sick after a while, but it is part of the aesthetic so I just power through lol. Other than that, fun dungeon crawler with a cool grimey crunchy aesthetic.

This is the type of game you played religiously as a kid on the PS1 or something, and your kid brain didn't really know what the hell was going on but you were having a good time anyways. Then years later you see it again on a retro game store's shelf, and you feel all that old joy and nostalgia come back to you.

Fairly fun game, has a nostalgic touch that reminds you of the 90s: going to the video store, getting a weird game off the shelf, then finding out it's pretty great in a way that the big titles aren't. I'm a liiiittle hesitant to recommend this. The game is made in Godot and definitely has a flavour similar to Cruelty Squad in its presentation and art style, which - while odd and rough around the edges - still leaves a good impression. The gameplay itself (namely the combat) can be a bit hit or miss - the guarding mechanic is difficult to understand (I never really knew if it was working), and while I'm not expecting the fluidity of something triple A, the strikes you deal don't feel amazing and the foes you fight have movement AI that swings between 'slug' to 'psychotic terrier' depending on the fight. Where the game does shine - the mechanics. There's a lot of interesting pen-and-paper work that you can do to improve your gameplay. You don't remember the spells you find, the potions you drink, and there's a meta-riddle across the game you need to solve. It's up to you to figure out how to commit this to memory - either with the in-game notebook or a scrap of paper by the PC, and you stand to benefit from doing so. You also benefit (or suffer) from putting the rings you find on different positions of your hand, so each time you find the ring you might get something different, depending on the placement. Again, this feels like something that games had in the 90s but has been abandoned for some reason. It's a really nice touch and despite the other drawbacks the game has, it contributes to a sense of mystery that keeps you coming back for more. I got to two of the endings with 14 hours of gameplay. I'd source out the others but again, the gameplay is a little rough around the edges, given I might get RNG'd out of accessing the level I need to complete another. So yes - pretty interesting for what it's doing and I'd be pretty keen to see where the developer goes from here, but not sure if it's worth the price point given the drawbacks and hours I'm willing to put into it at this point.
