Disclaimer: I only write a review once I 100% a game. Additionally, I don't judge graphics and neither should you. Graphics DON'T matter! Proof? Dwarf Fortress, RimWorld, Stardew Valley, Among Us, Terraria, Undertale, FTL, HoMM3, the list goes on... Exiled Kingdoms is an above average attempt at an old-school RPG. It has some good ideas, decent execution and some questionable choices, but is overally an enjoyable experience. As I understand it, this was originally a mobile game? What kind of a target audience they had in mind when they started working on a classic RPG and chose to go Mobile is beyond me. This version of the game, however, has no mobile trappings of paywalls or microtransactions so the only downside of that comes to its interface. For starters, there's no borderless option and no window re-sizing, however, it is possible to set up a custom resolution in a .ini file so that sorts that problem. And surely it can be forced into fake Borderless with 3rd party software. The rest of the interface is mostly alright, but it still takes some getting used to because, as mentioned, it's designed for mobile. It uses mouse clicks instead of dragging for example and aiming can be somewhat troublesome, but luckily there's "auto-aim". All of these otherwise "mouse" functions are and can be bound to hotkeys, which I strongly recommend. The story is pretty good. I wouldn't say unique, what even is nowadays, but you can see there was effort and love put into it. Without giving anything specific away, I can say it was likely inspired by the Might & Magic and Wizardry series, which I enjoyed quite a bit. As an open-world game, you have quite a bit of freedom and not a lot of hand-holding, which in fairness is very much in the spirit of the old-school RPG. The potential to mess up and get in a lot more trouble than you can handle is lurking around every corner. Luckily, there's also the option to reset stats/skills so with perseverence, or research I guess, you will get things right. Something to point out is that only the Good ending allows you to continue playing the game after it is finished. There are "side quests" that are possibly harder than the final story mission, so it might be a good idea to get those out of the way first. The music is excellent for an indie game, it is both varied enough and even when a track does repeat, it doesn't feel annoying or out of place. Now, my personal bread & butter - achievements. Mostly, the game is pretty good when it comes to those. There's a good variety and challenge, including Ironman run, but you are not forced to do one of those for 100% However, guilds are inconsistent - two are free to join by any class while the other two are class-restricted, which kind of limits your choice if you're trying to do achievements in as few runs as possible. Finally, the worst thing about it - the "last" achievement requires playing a character for 250h. Now, in a relatively optimized run, it took me something like 80 hours (probably less) to finish EVERYTHING the game has to offer with the exception of the Town Hall (random quests) as they're also a set number. Even if we generously double that playtime for the most leisurely of players, that's still nearly 5 IRL days of idling a character just to get that achievement. Overall - a good experience, with a few rough edges. The community around the game is great, making for a very thorough and helpful wiki. The game is well-priced, often goes on sale and is also featured in a great bundle - Old School Fantasy RPGs Bundle. Reommended!

It's a mobile port so there are certain expectations the player must have going in. The world and it's systems are great. Recommended for those who can push past it's mechanical short comings.

Started playing this game some 6 years ago on a phone. Damn good RPG. Interesting lore and story that's easy to get into, amazing side quests, somewhat simple yet extremely satisfying power progression. Each class offers different playstyles. This is the only game that made me get into hardcore runs/speedruns. The combat has a lot of jank so you can do a lot with skill and knowledge even if you're far too weak.

This is my fourth playthrough. Thrice on Android, and now on Steam. I find it strange that I keep coming back to this game, playing the exact same build, and still having as much fun as the first time. Nostalgic factors might be in play, but I am sure this is at least a decent game even for those without nostalgia.

I have finished the game like 20 times on mobile, cleared all quest, explored every inch of the game and i pretty much memorized everything.Time to beat it another 10 times on pc lol, cheers! jokes aside this is a hidden gem, probably the best mobile rpg and a contender for top pc rpgs,i haven sunk over 500 hours in this game and i have no regrets at all, enjoyed every second a tip for new players:dont stress over your build, just have fun and explore the posssibilites because if u ever have trouble in a certain part of the game you can just reset your build or find better gear.
