There is a lot to say about this game, So if you plan to read it all, make sure not to forget your sleeping bag or your reading glasses. And don't worry: There is no spoilers in this review. Only my personnal experience and a useful tip that will make the experience more enjoyable if you ever decide to give this game a crack. First, I should mention that this is a game with the same feel and atmosphere as Limbo and Playdead Inside. Like most of these style of games, you're playing as the victim, trying to flee from danger or fight back. You're all on your own in this game, since everyting is against you and your only ally is perseverence and the very lackluster tutorial at the start of the game. Therefore, it should be expected that game is challenging, intense and sometimes unfair because of bugs either causing a softlock and the lack of invincibility frame after being damaged causing the ennemies to chain attacks after attacks on you until you die. But while this game can be frustrating, the abundance of checkpoints more than makes up for it for the average player. It is expected to die in this game, A LOT. That's where the problem kicks in: If you try to complete each level without dying or speedrunning each level for the achievements, this game goes from challenging to infuriating. I personnally don't recommend the faints of heart playing to get the achievements in this game since some of these levels rely on RNG to succeed first try. And even then, you'd have to be lucky not to encounter one of the game's many bugs at softlocking, forcing to close the game in order to try again. This is a game that's hard to master. It should take time, patience and game knowledge before becoming a pro at this game. I have played for over 6 hours already and as someone who perfected the game by getting all of these insane achievements. I'm gonna give you one key tip that is going to help new and strggling players. TIP: - There are little tiny flies in the background, often seen as pack of 3. They are not just for the decor: Jumping on those tiny gnats actually heals your character. This is the only way your character can recover from hits. After 3 hits, it's usually over. But those white gnats really make the game more forgiving and enjoyable when knowing that interraction. Overall I loved the experience. This game is short, but the experience and artstyle are stellar even tho Feist is a buggy game. The mobile version of this game is less laggy and cheaper, but the controls are better on Steam. To summerize: Truing to be perfect the first time or play only for the achievements is not a good way to approach this masterpiece. Playing this game for the sheer experience while keeping in mind that dying is normal will make this game a great purchase. Since the ending is touching. I really do hope they make a Feist 2 or add more levels. One of my personnal favorites.
