My Review: Flowers -Eté- Overall Impression: 10/10 Everything about this chapter—the atmosphere, the soundtrack, and the character writing—is simply exquisite. What I loved most was how Chidori was introduced. At first, she’s brutally honest to the point of being blunt, seemingly indifferent to how her words affect others. Her first meeting with Erika didn't start well, but watching them slowly adjust their behaviors to live together and eventually opening up about their deep-seated struggles was incredibly rewarding. The Evolution of Erika: In Printemps, Erika felt mysterious and a bit "shifty" because she was mainly the "detective." But in Eté, we finally see her depth. I loved seeing her masculine speech patterns, her sense of humor, and especially her bashful side when complimented—something we rarely saw before. She went from being just a "weird character" to someone I truly adore. (As Chidori said, they’re both weirdos anyway!) The Mysteries (8/10): The puzzles here felt more grounded in observation and deductive skill rather than the heavy religious themes of the first game. The Green Hook Man: It was a clever twist! I suspected a thief, but Erika realized it was actually Suoh in a green raincoat, using a hook-shaped flashlight to search for clues about Mayuri at night. Solving this because Erika knew about Suoh and Mayuri’s relationship was a great touch. The Missing Rabbit: A simple but effective puzzle that played on Chidori’s poor eyesight—she accidentally picked up the rabbit hidden in the straw! The Endings (10/10): There are 10 endings in total (including 5 Bad Ends). Sister Dalia’s Ending: It was surprising to see Erika’s romantic feelings for Dalia. It’s a bittersweet, one-sided love because of Dalia’s position as a Sister. The "More Than Friends" & "Farewell" Endings: These were emotional. Learning about Chidori’s Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (distorted perception) was heartbreaking. I felt a bit empty in the Farewell end where she leaves to follow her dreams, leaving Erika alone again. Couples & True Ending: THE SWEETEST! The morning kisses and the duet in the True End had me smiling nonstop. It’s the canon happiness I waited for the whole game. Final Thoughts: This sequel made me understand and love Erika so much more. While I still miss the first game, Eté is currently my favorite. The music even reminded me of the cozy vibes in Stardew Valley! Also, the Sasaki twins are the best support characters—they balance the tense scenes with so much cuteness and humor. I’m not sure what’s waiting for me in the next season, but I’m sure it’ll be an amazing journey. Next Season, here I come! Thanks for reading!

Flowers ete is a step up from printemps in multiple ways: a better protagonist, a better translation job, and better pacing. Erika is just more interesting and fun to watch than Suoh in that she's a teasing girl and that just leads to more interesting interactions with the supporting cast. She's fun to watch and has more interesting choices. The translation job here is significantly better than in printemps, and my only real complaint is that voiced only lines aren't subtitled on screen and instead are shown in the backlog, but considering in printemps I don't remember them being put anywhere, it's still a huge step up. Pacing is also better in that it only feels bogged down in a few spots rather than in many spots. This volume of Flowers is pretty decent in most ways, it's cute, it has some funny moments, it's got great music and gorgeous art. The reason it has only earned a 7.5 from me despite all these positives is that it's just...there. It's a bit of a victim of being the second volume in a four volume story, and is the volume where very little of substance occurs. It's a necessary evil in a story like this, there has to be a "down moment" as characters are given some motivation and all. The extra chapter (unlocked after getting every ending) is incredibly important to set up autumne as well, and I feel like that's the only real spot where it feels like the overarching narrative is moved forward - although you could have picked up on everything in it if you were paying enough attention through the first two volumes. Overall, if you're still with me here, and you enjoyed printemps at all, read ete. It's solid, Chidori / Erika are cute, and it sets up autumne well. See you next time for Flowers 3 - Kawashima Rino as a protagonist sounds awesome (autumne).

Spoiler free review! As the second game in the Flowers series, this one is a fair sequel to its predecessor. I won't go into detail about the art, music, UI, mechanics etc, as they continue just as wonderfully as the first game had - gorgeous and perfectly fitting the theme of the game. What I will say is that there are both pros and cons to this second instalment. The cons are mainly just the variety of endings you can get - they don't feel quite as diverse as in the first game. However, having played the full game, I can appreciate why the developers chose to write the endings as they are. They make sense for the characters involved, and while not all of them have the magnitude that the first game's endings did, we have to remember that this game is a stepping stone along the road of this 4 part tale, so in a way, it doesn't have to be a huge epic thing, because it's not the be all and end all. The only other criticism I have is that for me personally, there wasn't enough difference between the Lovers ending and the True ending. It felt slightly lazy, and could have done with more distinction to make it feel extra worth it to have played through again for the True Ending. That being said, I still believe that this game is a worthy part of the Flowers series, which brings me to the pros; firstly, I love that you get to play as someone other than Suoh Shirahane, the protagonist of the first game. At first, I wasn't sure about that detail, but I very quickly began to love it. You get to experience the group of girls through a different lens - one which reveals things that Suoh's perspective didn't. It's also interesting to see Suoh from an outside perspective, rather than playing as her as we did previously. Another great thing in this game is that despite it seeming from the outset that we're moving away from the cliffhanger that was left at the end of the first game, we actually uncover some hidden lore that helps that cliffhanger to still be investigated alongside this second game's own main story. Very well done, and I really cherished the moment when it happened. If you've played the first Flowers game, I'd urge you to continue with this one. It's a beautiful universe that the creators have designed, and I can't wait to buy the next two games and progress with the story!
