Fruit Ninja VR is a natural and energetic evolution of Halfbrick Studios’ iconic arcade game, transforming the familiar swipe-based experience into a fully physical, immersive activity built specifically for virtual reality. Developed and published by Halfbrick Studios Pty Ltd, the game takes the instantly recognizable premise of slicing flying fruit and reimagines it through motion controls, allowing players to wield virtual blades and cut through fruit with their own movements. The result is an experience that feels intuitive from the first swing, yet remains engaging thanks to the tactile satisfaction of translating real-world motion into on-screen action. At its core, the gameplay remains faithful to what made the original Fruit Ninja so popular. Fruit is launched toward the player in fast, colorful arcs, and the objective is to slice as many pieces as possible while avoiding bombs that instantly end a run or cost valuable lives. In VR, this simple concept gains a new dimension of presence. Instead of flicking a finger across a screen, players must track fruit spatially, judge distance and timing, and physically move their arms to intercept targets. This shift makes the experience more immersive and surprisingly engaging, even for players already familiar with the franchise. Fruit Ninja VR offers several modes that cater to different play styles and moods. Classic mode emphasizes precision and caution, punishing mistakes and rewarding controlled slicing. Arcade mode introduces power-ups and bonuses that encourage aggressive play and high-score chasing, while Zen mode removes bombs entirely, allowing players to relax and focus purely on fluid motion and rhythm. These variations help prevent the experience from feeling one-note, giving players reasons to return even after mastering the basic mechanics. One of the game’s strongest qualities is its accessibility. Controls are intuitive and responsive, making it easy for newcomers to understand within seconds. This makes Fruit Ninja VR an excellent introduction to virtual reality, especially for players who may feel intimidated by complex control schemes or locomotion systems. At the same time, there is enough nuance in timing, positioning, and combo-building to keep more experienced players engaged as they attempt to climb leaderboards or refine their technique. The physicality of the experience is a key part of its appeal. Players naturally move their arms, lean, and adjust their stance to slice fruit effectively, creating a sense of bodily involvement without becoming overly demanding. Sessions can be energetic but are generally short enough to avoid fatigue, making the game ideal for quick bursts of play or social settings where multiple people take turns. The act of slicing fruit feels consistently satisfying thanks to clear visual feedback, crisp sound effects, and responsive motion tracking. Visually, Fruit Ninja VR adopts a bright and stylized aesthetic that prioritizes clarity and fun over realism. Fruit bursts apart with exaggerated splashes and effects, reinforcing the arcade tone and ensuring that action remains readable even during hectic moments. The environments are simple and uncluttered, keeping the player’s focus firmly on incoming targets. Audio design complements this approach, with familiar slicing sounds and upbeat music reinforcing the game’s playful energy without overwhelming the senses. Despite its strengths, Fruit Ninja VR is not designed for long, narrative-driven sessions or deep progression systems. Its appeal lies in repetition and mastery rather than discovery or story. Over extended play, the core loop can begin to feel repetitive, particularly for players who are not motivated by score chasing or leaderboards. However, this limitation aligns with the game’s purpose as a casual, arcade-style VR experience rather than a sprawling adventure. Overall, Fruit Ninja VR succeeds by doing exactly what it sets out to do: translating a beloved, simple concept into virtual reality in a way that feels natural, fun, and immediately rewarding. It may not offer the depth or longevity of larger VR titles, but its polish, accessibility, and physical engagement make it a standout example of how classic arcade mechanics can thrive in an immersive format. For players seeking a joyful, easy-to-understand VR game that emphasizes movement and instant gratification, Fruit Ninja VR remains a highly satisfying and approachable choice. Rating: 8/10

Okay so first thing first, the game is FUN. If you've born in 2000's and grew up in 2010's you know the default Fruit Ninja that you played in your Ipod nano, this honors that version very well. Same fruits, same animation and same vibe. I absolutely recommend the game just for that! I like the VR version too but my only complain is how bad migranes it causes since some fruits come from the sides which makes your eyes tired very fast. I recommend taking breaks every 30 minutes! The blades look nice (BUTTTERFLY BLADE <3) and only thing is that Christmas and Halloween achievements that are annoying but you can turn your clock to manually cheat the system if you missed them :D

Fun game, but more of something you can show your friends if they haven't played VR before. As a long-time mobile Fruit Ninja player: 8/10 would recommend.

Had the game on my old computer (Win10). Had to buy new VR headset. On both computers, clicking on the recentering icon did not always allow me to do this. Did not always appear. With the new computer/ headset the function telling me my play area was dark was very irritating, esp when it appears in the middle of the game and distracts me. Need to be able to disable it. The game occasionally gets the "jitters" at odd times, almost make me nauseous. The new VR headset game paddles are a disaster. Too many buttons that don't do anything. Very difficult to get quickly into a correct orientation. The old handsets were interchangeable, the new ones only work in one particular hand. Still play the game, but the pleasure is less.
