This game is an absolute blast! If you like civilization style games, this is an absolute must have! Positives: 1. Large variety of map sizes 2. Good number and variety of unit types/capabilities/powers 3. Diverse world set 4. Beautiful looking maps, starts, and cool looking units/structures 5. Easy to learn 6. Variety of ways to win/play 7. Fun and unique factions 8. Interesting lore of factions 9. Highly moddable 10. Hundreds of player made civilizations 11. Ability to make custom units/factions 12. Large variety of diplomatic deals that can be offered. 13. Trade deals are fair, unlike the garbage deals offered by Sid Meyers Civilization games. 14. You are NOT constantly pestered by AI players for diplomatic deals. (Such a big relief after dealing with Sid Meyers Civilization games) Negatives: 1. Limits in how frequent one can make trade/diplomatic deals with other factions 2. Either missing or hard to locate turn countdown between trade/diplomatic deals This game is so much fun to play. In my opinion, it is the epitome of turn based Grand Strategy/Civilization Building games. Request for the game maker, please make a planet focused version of this game. If you take this game, and re-skin it to appear like a planet based Sid Meyers game, you will put that guy out of business, and I will buy the game plus all the expansion packs as soon as my wallet allows.

Been a long time MOO2 fan girl. I like the very close game play mechanics to MOO2, and the remake. I like the variety and the beauty of the procedural generated galaxy when you begin a new game. Truly an experience that you never seem to have duplicated which is very cool. The diversity of Races both Major and Minor are incredible. If you're a Civ 5 and up fan, then this science fiction option surely will take your empire managing fix to a new exciting level. I began the GAL CIV journey when the second instalment of this franchise was the newest. I appreciated the beauty and wonder and the unexpected outcomes throughout the course of the game. Has many of the Civilization tropes that many fans would enjoy. I find this series has genuinely improved as it progresses not compared to other games that seem to go backwards or let go of features that many fans hope to see carry over to the next game. I am glad I own all of GALACTIC CIV 3. I am excited for 4 and this instalment is no slouch. Definitely fun to play with friends. It's hard to convince players to try a game of such strategy, as it is indeed in depth. A true evolution to RISK on a galactic scale and with much more intricate detail and wonder. I would love to see tournament game play of this series as I find it is a very enjoyable journey as you play. Events also come out of nowhere both good and bad. Keeps things interesting and non-predictable. Research trees are extensive and very interesting. The detail and effort the dev team has offered in GAL CIV 3 is quite an offering, and definitely a nice addition to your 4x library if you're fond of these types of games. I hope you find my review helpful. I plan to play a lot more when life isn't so hectic. Enjoy leading your Galactic Civilization to one of several possible victory conditions. :)

Classic 4X . In space. Conquer the galaxy! But be warned that this game features the "just one more turn" quirk that can bend time and 4 hours will pass in what seems to be 15 minutes. Each faction/race/civilization has a deep rich backstory and it's own design aesthetic to its ships. The ship and civilization design capabilities extend the game's playability. Recommended for fans of Sid Meiers' Civilization series.

It's awesome! It's like Stellaris, but not as complicated. The game gets stuck sometimes on turns but a quick reload is fine. Save often. The AI is fun to play against and there are plenty of options and paths to victory,
