Game Dev Tycoon is one of those deceptively simple games you boot up thinking, “I’ll mess around for 10 minutes,” and then suddenly it’s 3 a.m. and you’ve just bankrupted your third fake game studio because you thought "Medieval Puzzle RPG" was a million-dollar idea. Spoiler: it wasn’t. I played the hell out of a pirated copy back in the day, yes, the one where piracy is actually coded into the game and ruins your studio. And you know what? I deserved that. So I bought it. And then I bought it again. On PC, Switch, and Android. Because the game is that fun, that addictive, and that full of charm. It’s got the classic tycoon loop down to a science: start in your garage, slowly build a game dev empire, make terrible decisions that tank your finances, and somehow still feel brilliant while doing it. The writing is clever, the pacing is satisfying, and once you’ve beaten it, the Steam Workshop has some genuinely great mods that breathe new life into the experience, new topics, consoles, tech trees, more balanced scaling. Highly recommend diving in if you’re hooked and want more. It’s not overly complex. It doesn’t need to be. Game Dev Tycoon knows exactly what it is: a cozy, smart, slightly passive-aggressive simulation of the industry that made you feel like a genius and an idiot at the same time. Just like real game development.

MAKE A SEQUEL PLEEEEASE! I want to be able to update my games, have game's sizes be simulated in bytes, and have the chance to have a game of mine acquire a cult following. If Mojang can live off One game for 16 years, so should we (in GDT)!

At first I tried to be artistic and create new experiences, but that didn't sell, so I learned how to make RPGs, created couple of franchises and milked them dry. Ended the game with 500mil in the bank. Gaming industry is such a gaming industry

silly game maker sim with interesting mechanics and sliders you'll spend hours giving your games names like "poo flinging simulator" that get 11/10 reviews and sell 1 Billion copies. Then you'll make an actual, down to earth game called something dramatic like "Surviving the fall", an story based survival game with steering wheel support that gets 0/10 with a review saying "This was horrible"
