it's hard to say if I'd recommend this game to someone or not. I used to love the OG trilogy from xbox 360, but since gears of war judgment, all the GOW games have gone off the rails. they're still amazing to play in arcade game modes like horde and multiplayer... but the campaign drags on endlessly without any of the charisma this series used to have. the main characters are shallow, constantly chattering with lame jokes and unnecessary beef against each other. the open world chapters feel kinda boring, with unnecessarily big areas that have nothing more than some collectibles here and there (there are some side missions of course, they're kinda cool tbh but nothing that would need such a big and mostly empty flat map), and the worst of it all, I got a bug in chapter four act 2 where no matter how hard I try to solve it, the game doesn't save any collectible I get and I didn't get the achievement for completing the game, even though I completed all chapters from scratch by myself and some of them playing co-op. BUT... the horde mode is fantastic. of all those 100 hours of gameplay I have, I can surely say that more than 70% of it was spent playing horde (and I'm far from getting sick of it). the multiplayer is basically dead, but you have the option to play with bots or "co-op vs AI" which is probably the most played game mode. even if I bought this game only for horde mode, it'd be worth the price. I won't even talk about escape mode since in 100 hours, I've probably played it for 4 or 5 at most. almost nobody plays it. finally, about the hivebusters DLC... I'd definitely not recommend it, unless you want to get the achievements. it's total dogshit. speaking of achievements, I really don't get why they add such grindy achievements like "killing 100,000 enemies in multiplayer" and "seriously 5.0 - chapter 2" ... bro, it'd easily take more than 600 hours to get them. it's nonsense. anyways, good game, far from being the best of them, probably the worst btw, but if you just wanna play a point-and-shoot game against countless enemies with your friends without having to use your brain for anything, I'd definitely give it a shot

One of my favorite Gears games. I'm a huge fan of the original trilogy, no doubt. but I love Gears 5. Only big negative to this one is the ending to the story. G5 is an overall huge improvement over Gears 4, which is my least favorite of the franchise.

I think I got this game for $5. I really wish there was a "I bought this on sale" button next to the "received this product for free" because on sale this game is a bargain! The campaign is mediocre and open world. Escape mode is pretty awesome, the change in dynamic is different from other Gears games. Horde mode is as strong as ever. You can play against bots in for the multiplayer. Servers are still up and alive.

Good, worth playing. Multiplayer is still solid. Not as good as the first 3 gears though.................
