I feel as if this game is an improvement upon Getting Over It with Bennet Foddy, the game that inspired this one. I wouldn't call it a rip-off like some other people would. Rather I'd say it was inspired by Getting Over It and serves as an homage, much like how Getting Over It was inspired by Sexy Hiking. Even then, the controls of Golfing Over It are much more original by comparison. The obstacles feel just as "real" as they do in Getting Over It, however, it feels much more skill-based, and thus more rewarding. You have to learn the way the ball works and calculate your shots accordingly. You can even hit the ball while its in the air, so if you miscalculate, it feels much more like your fault than a mistake in Getting Over It would feel, as the controls in that game feel more intentionally bad, and thus artificially difficult. Thus, I feel this game is the best of the spiritual "Sexy Hiking Trilogy." A skill-based game with real obstacles, devastating consequences, and a calm narrator to help you through it while giving interesting insight on game design and how the controls implemented can carry you through the obstacles ahead, as well as conversing about why that's important, as overcoming such real-feeling obstacles can be fun if overcoming said obstacles and the devastating consequence of falling relied on your skill and calculation as opposed to fighting against the controls while doing so. In a way, the game succeeds at being very encouraging. It DOES feel great making it to the top because you do so purely through skill and not what feels like luck. I say this game is worth a chance to prove it stands on its own, like how Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy stands on its own from Sexy Hiking

This game is, in my opinion, the most fun Foddian game. It takes the simplicity of Getting Over It and mixes it with golf, which was really enjoyable. The 100% completion was also fun since it relies on challenges instead of just beating the game fifty times like Getting Over It. The challenges include beating the game in under 15 minutes and also beating it in under 300 hits, which was a bit challenging, but that’s where the fun was. Game: 7/10 100%: 8/10

Alva Majo really spoke of not having enough control over your character in Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy then proceeded to make a game where you are resigned to watching helplessly as you tumble from the summit all the way to the beginning of the game if you touch the wall

I haven't finished it yet. I got to the dragons so far. But it's so relaxing. I love it. Games like this make me hate being left-handed tho. I wish the music played always and not only when Alva Majo talks.
