Ground of Aces is a city-building and management game that sets itself apart by focusing on aviation history, particularly the development of air bases during World War II . Instead of guiding armies across large battlefields, the player takes on the role of an airbase commander, tasked with building, maintaining, and optimizing an operational hub for fighter squadrons, bombers, and support staff. The game blends historical authenticity with strategic depth, creating a niche experience that is both relaxing in its construction mechanics and tense in its logistical decision-making. The core of Ground of Aces revolves around building an effective airbase from scratch. Players construct runways, hangars, fuel depots, barracks, medical centers, and command posts, all of which serve critical roles in keeping the base running. Each building placement matters, since efficiency and accessibility can impact how quickly planes are refueled, repaired, or scrambled into action. The logistics layer is particularly engaging: resources like fuel, spare parts, and trained personnel must be carefully managed, and shortages can quickly cripple operations. Aircraft management forms another pillar of gameplay. Each plane is not just a statistic, but a unit that requires constant attention—repairs after missions, rearming, and sometimes even replacement after losses. Pilots and ground crews are also represented as individuals, with skill levels and morale that can be influenced by your decisions. This gives the game a personal touch, as you may find yourself investing in the well-being of your pilots rather than treating them as expendable assets. One of the strongest elements of Ground of Aces is its presentation. The developers clearly drew inspiration from authentic WWII aviation history, reflected in the detailed aircraft models, uniforms, and the overall base architecture. The isometric art style strikes a balance between accessibility and historical immersion, making it easy to navigate your base while still appreciating the finer details. The sound design also adds to the atmosphere, with roaring engines, radio chatter, and distant anti-air sirens creating a sense of urgency. The game doesn’t rely heavily on scripted story campaigns but instead offers sandbox and scenario-based gameplay. This allows players to experiment freely with base layouts or tackle challenges that simulate specific wartime conditions, such as resource shortages, enemy bombings, or harsh weather. These events force players to adapt on the fly, making each playthrough feel unique. While accessible to newcomers, Ground of Aces demands foresight and adaptability. Poor planning can result in delayed sorties or grounded squadrons at critical moments. Unlike traditional RTS games where victory is often determined by combat prowess, success here comes from long-term efficiency and the ability to keep your base running smoothly under pressure. The slow but steady pace encourages strategic thinking, rewarding players who carefully balance expansion with sustainability. Ground of Aces is a refreshing take on the management-sim genre, offering a mix of historical authenticity, base-building strategy, and human-centered decision-making. It rewards careful planning and gives players the satisfaction of running a living, breathing airbase rather than focusing solely on combat. While it may not appeal to those looking for fast-paced action, strategy fans who enjoy meticulous planning and historical settings will find plenty to admire. The Scramble!! update is a major content patch for Ground of Aces, adding a number of systems that deepen the game. 8/10 DISASTER | BAD | MEDIOCRE | OKAY | GOOD | GREAT |AMAZING| MASTERPIECE Reviewed on: Win11 Home 64-bit, Intel i5-11600K, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GDDR7, 32GB DDR4-3600 RAM, 2 x Kingston NV1 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, Internet Broadband 1000/1000 Mbit If you like this review, then please consider giving it a thumbs up. A solid base builder about managing an airbase. However I have to agree with some of the reviews, I'm not a fan of the medieval like gathering aspect. It's just feels out of place/ overemphasized compared to the rest of the game's tone/ setting. If possible I want the devs applying something more fitting to the tone, maybe something like using victory points to request a supply drop or send your transport plane to procure supplies from HQ. Also, I'd love to see the devs put more focus on the planes themselves. I dare to say the planes and managing them are the biggest draw of the game. I feel like they're underutilized compared to the time spent gathering resources, for me at least. The game's off to a great start, I hope the devs continue to refine and expand it. A solid 7 for me

So my standard for games is if I get an hour of playtime for each dollar, then it was a good purchase. I've got 38 hours so far in this game and only played the first air field. Good times. Good buy.

Review: liked the game and concept from start but soon encountered principal flaws. I suggest to buy it at discount in a hope that developers will bring more content but what is more important IMO - re-design (if it is possible) part of the core mehcanics/gameplay process. What I didn't like in the game is unrealistic concept of Air base crew having to gather resources for its base, like they are settlers on uninhabited island/continent. Weekly truck supplies from HQ don't help to remove this feeling of mismatch of the game's premis with its gameplay. Suggestions During WWII air bases, their crew were on a frontline - tip of a spear especially during Battle for Britain, I don't think any of ground or air crew members had to grind resources to survive another day. Pilots were exhausted from routine or by alarm flights and air battles, greaving for lost comrades. And were not able to wake up next morning and start huffing metal, sand or making bricks. The numbe of flights for each pilot per day, number of KIAs put enourmos pressure on Air Force. And you suggest that they should wake up and take care of sand and bricks? It puts the game into very arcade and casual representation of WWII. If it is not too late just shift gameplay from grinding resources to more strageic or tactical building/upgrading of airbase from plentiful of resources broughts by command of Royal Air Force from various suppliers. So, base building part wont be erased, build everything from scratch with much bigger team of ground crew or maybe temporary construction team/batallions that can also be called upon upgrade of victory points accumulated. Part A: Maintenance and Services The role of ground crew will thus shift to Maintenance and Service: - meeting of airplains on cars with medics, firebrigades and/or refuling/repair teams - repair of damaged airplanes (spair part only general "spair parts" but engines, fuel tanks, etc) - maintenance of damaged building, construction of new ones, etc. There should be military garrizon on the field taking care of AA defense and intruders, cammo etc. Part B: Missions and History Developers missed very huge potential to link missions to real historical events like Battle for Britain, hunt for Bismark and Tirpitz, patrols over Atlantic in search for submarines, Mocsito bombing of Gestapo HQs in France/Holland, hight altitude interception of german scout planes (btw done by son of Russian immigrant of aristocratic origin) etc. All this also opens HUGE potential for very interesting gameplay (i hope in a framework of existing engine and game concept). Examples: - new naval airplanes - new buildings and supply from headquarter like: ammo depot, new services like putting special kind of bombs on airplanes, Tollboy bombs, damb buster bombs and very unique special missions related, table of achivements for the crews, list of KIA, MIA, personal stories for each pilot - arrival and impact of foreign pilots from Poland / Czheck republic and their huge impact on Battle for Britain. - new equipment/missions for airplanes like radars, magnitometer (late war in Atlantic) - finally arrival of 8th Air Army from USA with b-17 and more drama and work for ground crew What the heck, there is a mission for ground support in Sept 1940 when ground battles over Europe were over? Norway? for airplanes with very limited range? So, I have more to say/suggest about the game but the core things are presented above. Sorry for possible mistakes and broken english.

So far, the game has been brilliant, with significantly more depth than the Demo versions. Loving it, loving it, loving it. I don't think that sleep is an option tonight. If I asked a company to design a game specifically for me, then Ground of Aces would be it. Born in 1974, I was brought up on the Biggles books and all of the WW2 comics like Victor etc. And I now have a love of WW2 history. Thank you to all of the team for such a brilliant game. So far 10/10
