Dec. 2025
Gun Club VR is a VR-focused firearms simulation that commits fully to authenticity, tactile interaction, and mechanical fidelity rather than traditional shooter spectacle. Developed and published by The Binary Mill, the game positions itself not as an action-heavy FPS or narrative-driven experience, but as a highly interactive virtual shooting range where the handling of weapons is the primary attraction. From the moment you step into the range, the design philosophy is clear: Gun Club VR is about how guns feel in your hands, how they operate, and how precisely you can control them using motion controllers in a virtual space. The strongest aspect of Gun Club VR lies in its meticulous approach to weapon interaction. Every firearm requires hands-on operation, including racking slides, pulling charging handles, loading magazines, toggling safeties, and clearing jams. These actions are not abstracted into button presses but instead rely on physical gestures, making each weapon feel distinct and grounded in real-world behavior. Pistols, rifles, shotguns, and heavier weapons all demand different handling techniques, and mastering these nuances becomes part of the satisfaction. The sense of presence is particularly strong when aiming down sights or performing rapid reloads under pressure, reinforcing the idea that the game is less about reflex shooting and more about procedural skill and muscle memory. Gameplay is structured around a wide variety of shooting challenges rather than a single continuous campaign. Traditional target practice modes sit alongside themed scenarios such as hostage situations, zombie waves, and historical shooting galleries. These challenges introduce time pressure, accuracy requirements, and situational awareness without straying too far from the game’s range-based foundation. While enemies are often represented by stylized or abstract targets rather than fully animated combatants, this choice keeps the focus on shooting mechanics rather than combat realism, which aligns with the game’s simulator identity. Progression in Gun Club VR is driven by performance-based rewards. Completing challenges earns in-game currency that can be used to unlock new firearms and an extensive array of attachments. Customization is deep and satisfying, allowing players to modify optics, grips, barrels, stocks, and cosmetic finishes. This system encourages experimentation, as different attachments meaningfully affect weapon handling and performance. For players who enjoy tinkering and optimization, the act of building and fine-tuning a firearm can be just as engaging as using it in the range. Despite its strengths, the game’s narrow focus can also be a limitation. Environments are functional but repetitive, often resembling variations of indoor ranges or warehouse-style layouts. Over time, the novelty of shooting scenarios may diminish, especially for players looking for environmental variety or narrative context. Audio design, while serviceable, does not always match the level of detail found in the weapon models themselves, occasionally reducing the sense of impact during extended play sessions. These shortcomings do not undermine the core experience, but they do highlight where the game prioritizes mechanics over atmosphere. Gun Club VR’s appeal is inherently specialized. It resonates most strongly with players who appreciate firearms from a mechanical or hobbyist perspective and who enjoy deliberate, hands-on interaction rather than fast-paced competitive play. The lack of multiplayer or story-driven progression may leave some players wanting more, but for others, this focused design is precisely what makes the experience so compelling. The game excels as a sandbox for learning, practicing, and enjoying virtual gun handling without real-world risk. Overall, Gun Club VR stands as one of the more confident and fully realized firearm simulators available in virtual reality. Its commitment to realism, detailed weapon interaction, and extensive customization systems gives it a clear identity that separates it from conventional shooters. While it may not offer broad appeal or long-term variety for every player, it delivers exactly what it promises: a deeply tactile, immersive shooting range experience that showcases the unique strengths of VR as a medium. For players seeking authenticity and hands-on engagement above all else, Gun Club VR remains a standout title in the VR library. Rating: 7/10

To get all the achievements, it'll take you about 19 hours. If you get the game in a sale for like, £4, then that's not bad value for money. Choosing your favourite gun and then shooting targets is a nice bit of fun that doesn't need extreme focus or anything. However, there's the main progression, and then the secondary, allied progression. By the time you finish the pistol, smg, shotgun, rifle, action, and zombie ladders, doing that all a second time does start to feel grindy. You don't really unlock anything different, either. You're not restricted to world war 2 era stuff, so in theory you could just buy 5 guns, never use anything else, and finish every level. If you are buying everything, around that time you're just kinda purchasing the last 3 or 4 weapons that are just expensive reskins. $350,000 for the reaper p90 that I'll never use was kinda annoying. I kept replaying the last shotgun level to grind $7k payouts until I could buy it, the levels before that got me to about $280k, so it could've been worse. The sandbox mode was fun, I would sit there with a psg-1 and just snipe bottles aiming to get the achievement but it actually felt pretty zen to just chill. Opening a menu and spawning them all one by one was kinda tedious but nothing's perfect. Overall, just don't burn yourself out achievement hunting. Boot it up when you fancy shooting a couple things.

Still supports provolver and forcetube! Unlike the Quest version. But you cannot change the horizontal angle offset of the gun/controller. For pistol type weapons this seems to be out of alignment with the reality for a Quest 3 (look at your physical Quest 3 controller in hand and position represented in the HMD). Even so, I do recommend to get this when it is on sale for 75% or more. Maybe other controllers/headsets do not have this issue.

great start for anyone wanting to play with guns in vr, i like putting as many lasers on a gun as possible, instead of using the sights. feels like the guns are not aligned with my hand which is weird, but the game works well.
