Im in cyber security, and my buddy recommended this game to me. I know its an early access game so i was expecting bugs, rather i found some inequities. not bad, but stuff to def improve on. Heres a summery: A nice game for people who have no experience and want to learn some basics. it would be nice to have difficulty level, or "experience" level. Otherwise I see HUGE POTENTIAL. im loving just the thought of how this game could turn out and be something really cool and unique. otherwise theres some details that are slightly wrong, and if a player is using it to learn, could easily be mislead, so i think fixing that would be paramount. My First Hour on HackHub- Kali machine mock up, not bad. really love the customization ability. commands are a little wonkey. like FTP doesnt use the same commands a terminal would, kali is case sensitive this is not. some of the tools are forced to be used in a weird way, but pretty close. i appreciate the simplicity or dumbing down of the commands and tools used, but its kinda miss leading for people using this to learn skills. I appreciate how nmap and other notorious tools dont take for ever to do its thing, but also, there should be more options applicable to the syntax. when playing a few missions in the beginning, theres other directories in computers that dont have anything in them, like etc (which only had passwd which btw isnt where a users password is stored on nix devices, but thats the info thats in there). normally /etc has a bunch of different file paths and it would be cool to see them and interact with them. another problem is when i complete the mission, the session isnt closed on the terminal, but the games coding stops you from interacting with the session anymore. Theres a lot of examples where im playing and i have to tell my self, "its early access. they dont have everything." So as a user, it would be nice to see two maybe three improvements. the first stage should be completing the terminal. make sure all the commands are capable of doing everything you would on a normal machine. (for example for some reason you can make a directory but cant move anything into that directory yet.) Either these are bugs, or they are just not finished yet. The second update id like to see is completing the hackerhub universe. I can lynx users on different platforms and i can see that there is already some output that you can get, so again, i REALLY hope that this game expands on this A LOT. on the websites it would be nice to click on links and go see random stuff, and maybe even start some side quest by your self. more files in computers that are easter eggs or leads to further "hacking" basically i feel like the potential for more interaction is there, i just REALLY hope the devs are going to follow through and make this an impressive game. It just feels like im back in my classes on a software that only lets me click on what im suppose to. very guided. A 3rd update that would be kinda weird but cool would be an open world aspect with other players. you get a universe made, and now you can interact with other players. start a webserver and set up security to protect your asset/assets. or work together to solve a job. a simple way to PVP would just simply protecting your money/identity and dont get DOXed/swatted by other players and going on the offense your self. I paid for the game, and i hope that this goes toward some really good development. please dont let this game fall off because you update or add the wrong things to this. Ive already showed some of my friends that want to get into cyber skills.

I work as a offensive cybersec engineer, with many certifications including the CompTIA trinity, OSCP, and CEH. I have a good love for hacking games and have tried probably all of them. Here is where I stand on this one: If you want the truth, I would give this game to someone who has no previous experience with offensive cybersec. Every single hacking game is limited by the fact that hacking is complex and they focus more on very generic tool names, stay away from code (although this one gives you the possibility of writing your own), and can get very repetitive. This one covers all of the very low hanging fruit, and as far as I can see, it does a nice blend of phishing, web exploits, script/service exploits, and even cracking hashes. If you are looking for a more "hardcore" hacking game, you may find more with Grey Hack, however this one takes the cake for "instructional". The puzzles arent too hard and there is a guiding voice the whole time. For the price that this game is, and for what it provides, I say its very fair and any person who is interested in what I consider to be the "unrealistic but fun part of hacking" then this game is for you. It would probably be very interesting to someone who is wanting to hack but doesnt know where to get started.

Highly recommended for those interested in the field, uses real world tools and will get you familiar with some of the commands for them and Linux. Very beginner friendly and would love to see some extra complexity in the upcoming challenges.

Can't quite call it yet, almost, but not entirely finished with the main story. It's well made and feels better than some of the others in the genre. If you're into it, it's worth it. You don't need any prior knowledge and it's basically just critical thinking and putting together a progressively harder puzzle, in a different sense. Shout out to the devs. Updating and hot fixing a lot on release. They care. Buy this game.
