As someone who has played a few of the programming/hacking games I'd say this one is approachable while still helping you build transferable cyber security concepts, and maybe even a few basic skills too. Will you be able to perform real pentesting after playing this game? LOL-NO, but you'll have an idea what the framework to do so looks like and can use that to better understand your adversaries. It will also help you know whether you—actually—want to get into Cybersecurity to do pentesting, or if that's just a fantasy that lives rent free in your head. That said, it's a light game and is fun. Tip, type all your commands you'll need into the note pad along with exploits before connecting to the target computer. This allows you to quickly copy n paste and then disconnect. By reducing how long you're connected after the initial exploit, you'll greatly increase how long you can use that wifi SSID before needing to use a new one.

Got this little gem on sale. Love the help guide starting out. I also came up with a few tips to help speed up. 1) use notepad to type some of the commands especially when some things are repetitive i.e. malware jobs from the same people. 2) always look for a mamazon account when hacking to purchase upgrades when you can, this will save you from spending your own coin. (with caution of course) 3)Keep playing it gets more in-depth. Grind through the repetitive stuff, and youll soon get to do alot more. 4)DO ALL JOBS EVERY DAY! it's really the fastest way to progress 5)Search for and download all .txt files You never know when you'll need a mamazon, sweam, or lazy eats account to upload. 6)GET FASTER with typing and copy/paste so you don't get disconnected/ or found out and arrested. lol My review is, don't listen to the gripes. Take it for what it is. Hacking is a lot of rinse and repeat so keep that in mind. It's still being updated so give dev credit where credit is due. I got it on a huge sale, and have had a bit of a blast with it. As far as music in the game. short instrumental playlist. Might suggest turning game music off and use your own playlists. Yes it helps to play with music on. Also don't feel like I have to grind this game. It has a save feature and you can hop on, do a few jobs, and hop off. something to keep in your game library for those days you get burnt out on other time consuming games. It's a fun little game. It would be nice to see dev add in blackmail jobs i.e. Mayor has an affair, and desperately reaches out to ILLEGAL YOU, to go on the mistress' pc and steal evidence that would make him lose his political position. Or coverup jobs where a cartel has you move their illegal files to a fall guys PC. Or takeover jobs where a company has you hack a rival company and drain their financials to put the opposition out of business. So many things to add to this game to give you a greater sense of dangerous achievement. So you feel more in character. Game is great for what is. Could be EVEN MORE with events and QOL Features.

Hacker Simulator I’m not a master, but I do work in the computing field, and I wanted to try a game that blends entertainment with hacking fundamentals. Reviews often call it “repetitive,” and yes, tasks like malware deployment, phishing, and credential recovery are repeated frequently—but that’s also realistic. Computing is repetitive by nature, and what matters is how well it’s presented. The game does a solid job here. Commands, tools, and syntax are basic but believable, showing that research went into the design. Voice acting is surprisingly strong, the music—especially Karl Casey’s tracks—sets a chill, immersive tone, and overall presentation is polished. Memorization plays a role, but the built-in HELP menu and clear instructions keep the game approachable. References to file names and tools make objectives understandable, even for players with little background. Timed sequences add pressure, requiring quick command execution to avoid detection, which keeps tension high. Ultimately, no one should treat this as a substitute for formal education. You’ll learn more from books and courses, but as a fictionalized introduction to hacking concepts, it’s fun, engaging, and far more approachable than a textbook. —The Ember Archives https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45601239/

Amazing game, loved every part of it especially the hard part (10 contracts for the Comet). I don't know why people hated that part- yes it is really hard but it takes about 20-30 minutes on 10 servers for you to complete a contract, and for 5 servers it takes 5-10 minutes. Just type fast and use your notepad so you don't have to remember what you've checked and what you didn't. There are several things I'd like to be changed: - When decrypting a file, after you type the command you need to click on the terminal so you could type. It would make so much more sense and it would be really faster to just allow us to type immediately when the command is entered. Wasting time and a bit annoying having to click every single time. - While doing 2 or more different contracts at the same time, when you finish and send one to them- you get disconnected from the server so basically you need to wait for all the contracts you're doing at the same time to finish downloading/uploading and then send one by one to them. I think it would be better if sending finished contracts doesn't disconnect you from the server (example- using one person to take his steam acc, amazon acc and upload a malware). - Tips are not so great, for example I thought lanscanner is a command in the terminal and after trying to figure out for several minutes why it isn't working, I saw an app called lan scanner. - ENDING- you have to finish 10 contracts for the Comet but when you do finish the last one it doesn't say you've done/completed a game/maybe new missions or anything. I've completed like 15 of them and still didn't get that 1 missing (9/10 completed) so I think you should really make an ending after completing all 10 of them with an option to stay in the game and continue browsing/hacking. While I was writing this review I closed and reopened the game and loaded the save file - the mission was gone (completed I guess) but still no ending screen. After this (last) mission it is just repetitive missions you've completed a dozen times. I do recommend the game to everyone, it is enjoyable to play and really interesting.
