My same thoughts on this as Spartan Assault. Yeah it's a mobile game, but you can get it for like 74¢ on sale, so that's a justified price. Also for some reason it introduces tank controls, but only on some vehicles? To play the final Operation you need gold stars on all previous missions, I don't like that. But otherwise definitely worth under a dollar

Pretty much just like Spartan Assault but with some quality of life improvements and more connected levels. The XP system was replaced with Credits, which makes way more sense as a name, and all the items can be bought way easier as its just easier to obtain XP/Credits in this game than the last. Both cause the stars are just more generous, and now there are side objectives in every mission you can go for to get even more Credits. The side missions I had a lot of fun doing! Fix one baffling decision, make another though. Requiring getting gold stars on each level to play the final world. I am considering doing it though! This game was a load of fun and seems also fun to 100%. Also, as much as I did defend the controls in the last game, and i still stand by what I said, they did manage to improve the controls more in this game. Not sure why they couldnt just port the changes over. I mean the games are made via the same framework surely you can just copy and paste the code (clueless.) (but also probably true)) Oh and the levels are a lot longer so checkpoints would have been more reasonable. it was still fine without them though. The game isnt hard, I rarely died in both games. Maybe the final world will kick my ass, who knows.

Pros >more gameplay content >more mission >longer mission >master chief easter eggs >more vehicle, weapon, enemies, allies etc Cons >less story >you're a lone spartan, so no more all out war like spartan assault (allies still appeared on some parts as a support unit, not a squad member) >less background fight, more lonely >worse grind, the fastest way to earn credit is to go A2 with both blind and pacifist skull activated (roughly around 5 minutes or less for 1500 credits) tldr, Halo 3 top down: spartan assault (no warthog) Halo 4/5 top down: spartan strike (yes warthog)

Halo: Spartan Strike builds on the foundation laid by Spartan Assault, delivering another fast-paced top-down twin-stick shooter that keeps the classic Halo combat feel while adding a bit more challenge and tactical depth. Set during pivotal moments in the Halo timeline, the game offers fans a fresh perspective on iconic battles with a compact, action-packed format. The campaign follows a series of missions where you control a Spartan soldier tasked with neutralizing Covenant and Promethean forces. The story is light and serves mostly as a backdrop to the intense combat, but it fits nicely into the broader Halo lore for fans eager to explore every corner of the universe. Gameplay is tight and engaging, with improved enemy AI and mission design compared to its predecessor. The weapons feel true to the Halo franchise, and the addition of new enemies and gadgets adds variety to combat encounters. The twin-stick controls are smooth and responsive, making maneuvering and shooting feel natural and satisfying. Visually, Spartan Strike sports crisp, clean graphics with detailed environments and recognizable Halo aesthetic elements. The sound design and music maintain that signature epic Halo atmosphere, enhancing the intensity of each firefight. While the game can become repetitive after many missions, the overall pacing and increasing difficulty keep players on their toes. It’s a perfect pick for quick gaming sessions that still deliver solid Halo action in a portable format. In summary: Halo: Spartan Strike is a worthy follow-up to Spartan Assault, offering refined gameplay, tougher challenges, and classic Halo thrills in a compact, accessible package. It’s a great choice for fans looking for a fresh way to enjoy the franchise’s signature combat on the go. Rating: 8/10
