If you like HoMM(2,3, or 5), this is a very faithful modern implementation of that style game. There are some new systems, innovations, quality of life improvements, but the overall game is quite similar. Story is great and the campaign is fun to play. Just about through all the campaigns and would highly recommend. If you are reading this and looking for another great implementation of the classic HoMM formula, I would also highly recommend [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/867210/Songs_of_Conquest/] Songs of Conquest .

An excellent turn-based strategy game—I highly recommend it to all fans of the genre. The audio is pleasant. The graphics are cartoonish, the kind that runs smoothly even on a Steam Deck at high settings, yet still charming in their own way. The controls are fairly standard for the genre. Now, a detailed breakdown of the gameplay: There are five factions, four of which have their own campaigns. The factions differ in their unit rosters and a few minor city mechanics. Additionally, faction heroes have access to a faction-specific perk (all of which are more or less useful). Units are divided into two types: mechanical and biological. Three factions have units of both types in their rosters, while the other two have only one. The unit type determines which abilities can be applied to it. In practice, there are very few such abilities, mostly limited to different kinds of healing. During combat, a unit can wait (the wait command resets the unit to the end of the initiative order, so the slowest units that use wait will end up last), use a special ability (these are quite useful but require a cooldown after use), or move and attack. Ranged units cannot reposition before attacking, and units cannot change position before using a special ability (though some units can move and then shoot—that's a separate case). Heroes differ only in name and slightly in appearance. Aside from faction affiliation, no hero has any unique traits. Each hero has three primary statistics: Scouting (determines movement range and vision), Combat Power (determines the strength and defense of the hero's units), and Ability Power (determines energy/mana pool, regeneration per turn, and ability strength). Abilities are divided into four categories: biological, mechanical, psionic, and on-map abilities. Abilities also have three tiers, requiring a corresponding skill value to unlock. Abilities themselves are obtained from special buildings in cities, found on the map, or acquired through consumables. A hero can learn up to eight skills. Upon leveling up, the hero chooses one of two offered skills, which may be new or upgrades to existing ones. Each skill can be leveled up three times. Skills can be forgotten or acquired in specific locations or through consumables. Four skills grant access to abilities from their respective categories. Developing these skills increases the power and level of abilities in that category and unlocks higher-tier abilities. Among these four, the skill that unlocks on-map abilities is particularly worth taking for all heroes, as it allows interaction with the overworld—speeding up your movement, providing protection, as well as deceiving and delaying the enemy. The variety of abilities here is excellent. A hero can equip up to four pieces of gear and one artifact. A skill can increase these limits to six and two, respectively. Gear is diverse, and much of it is useful. Artifacts are especially powerful items. To equip a piece of gear or an artifact, the hero must have sufficient energy/mana. Abilities are used once per turn, both on the strategic and tactical maps. Certain items can modify these limits. Abilities cost energy, which regenerates very slowly at the start of each turn and also slowly through consumables. Energy is fully restored when visiting a city or certain locations on the map. Heroes can build small structures on the strategic map, which, roughly speaking, can delay enemy movement, provide line of sight, or build a mine that accumulates resources each turn—only for the first hero who claims them. Resources include gold, four types of production resources, and synthesis cores. The only particularly interesting ones are the cores, which allow purchasing any building or upgrade with them without spending other resources. Turns on the strategic map are divided into so-called phases. Changing phases changes the lighting, which in turn affects the stats of some neutral units. Map locations and unit income refresh at the end of a cycle. A cycle can consist of 4–6 phases depending on the map settings.

Very good HoMM-like game. The factions are interesting and most units have special abilities to make them unique. Some ideas like consumables are forgettable, but overall the game stays close to the HoMM formula that we know and love. The campaigns are fun and I appreciated the writing (despire the story being fairly basic). My biggest gripe is that load times are very long, and the AI turns can take a while in certain maps

Clearly a love letter to HoMM3. Shows a lot of promise though there is still work left to do. If you're a fan of Heroes 3 but ran out of content, this is a must-try. If you like sci-fi themed turn based strategy games with RPG elements, again, a must-try. In the 4X genre, this game is more like Heroes 3 than any other, and that's a big compliment. Some constructive criticism (keeping in mind the game is under development): The city soundtracks in this game are on-point, but the overworld and battle tracks leave much to be desired. The Fossorian unique ability is busted, it makes them by far the strongest option in an otherwise fairly balanced game. The AI on the hardest setting is still rather inept (just like in Heroes 3) The idea of the stratosphere is neat, like the Heroes underground area, but it feels underutilized. Overall a lot of fun and well worth the price. Keep it up devs!

Great game. The only thing I have issues with is that it is impossible to read the red and dark blue text on the black backgrounds. A colorblind version would help.
