very interesting chapter with a lot of new info, unlike the previous chapters i really enjoyed the wholesome scenes at the start, it also made me see satoko in a new light hhhh as i found her quite annoying before,, keiichi is stupid as ever but he actually gets better at a point in the story, and i really liked the new turn of events, very refreshing ^^ spoiler spoiler) some thoughts/predictions: i definitely believe there's different timelines and timeloops connecting the chapters which will explain a lot of things, the disaster also made me wonder if it could be the gas that caused those weird deaths of keiichi in the prev chapters, which would make sense if this is a recurring thing in every timeline. but maybe not cuz only this chp had the whole victim list thing at the end. i realised takano is a lot less innocent than i thought, if she really did kill tomitake as the story suggests, what is her motive? is it simply just to test the oyashiro curse? but other than her and keichii there's definitely someone else carrying out the murdering, seeing rika's death. regarding what happened to satoko's uncle i'm inclined to believe that he was killed in keiichi's timeline but for some reason he entered a different timeline after killing him, another theory could be that his friends were all lying and the uncle did die, but his body was somehow found and removed by someone? or keiichi really just went mad and hallucinated the whole thing, but that would be boring. this is a little all over the place TvT there's just too much scrap pieces of info and my brain is scrambled
"The fun times will end one day, and nobody knows when they will. It makes sense to live each day to the fullest so that if it does tomorrow, you don't regret anything" Maybe I read through this too quickly as its supposed to be one of the longer chapters. I think this chapter has some of the best strengths but also greatest flaws so far. The construction of Satokos character is amazing in this, and is definitely more emotionally provoking in making you actually care what happens. The atmosphere that is built up is very strong, coalescing as usual around the Watanagashi festival. The slice of life segments prior also felt fairly refreshing. The moment when Keiichi is doing his crime in the rain is incredible. Very engaging and dark and just completely engrossing in atmosphere. It felt like a true fruition of the concept of a 'Sound Novel'. So yeah, without going too much into it this was a very dark chapter, I liked how it felt very respectful in this sense. Part of what didn't thrill me about the endings of CH-1 and CH-2 is they felt so over the top I dont know if there was a hint of comedy in it. Obviously due to the profound subject nature of CH-3 covering child abuse, yeah Im glad it didn't feel as over the top. It felt grounded. I wouldn't say depressing, as CH-2 was the saddest out of the chapters so far, It moreso feels just incredibly scary and real. profound. But not in the way of CH-1s horror. But the ending, is still quite eh. I understand the direction its trying to go in, and its trying to confuse you the reader as much as possible. But this was just such a jump from both CH-1 and CH-2 its insane. It basically solves every answer but leaves you with about 20 more which again is fine and all but it feels quite overloaded and backheavy. It lulls you into the story thinking this is going to be more focused on satoko, which it is, but then just dumps so much ♥♥♥♥ in the back half you have no way to even comprehend what you just read. Its peak, but part of me thinks there could of been a degree of separation in this regard. It just felt like a lot of the conspiratorial stuff at the end was just so much not needed, and a lot of it shouldve just been said rather than described. or left to one of the answer arcs. I really dont get why anything past the final incident was included but who knows. It really makes me feel conflicted because other than that this chapter was a solid 9, 9.5/10, but with all this included its more like a 7 or 8. Still really good, but just so backheavy. I get the narrative beats the story is going for at this point, I think I know relatively whats going on but who knows. This review probably wont be read by anyone or help anyone i dont know if i can call it a review even, but if youre already this far in I guess theres no point to just keep on going. I have no clue how this will resolve itself plot wise but thematically its pretty obvious since the ending of ch1.
