I first found Hustle Cat through PressHeartToContinue and Octopimp's playthrough in 2016. Whenever I play through the game again, it's their voices I hear in my head over the brilliantly done soundtrack. (And the "NERD ALERT" whenever Graves appears.) Over the past decade, at least four laptops, and a degree, I keep coming back to this game. For me, of course, it's endlessly nostalgic, but I think even for new players it still has things to offer. The story is charming, the characters are dynamic, and the artwork is breathtaking. Part of me hopes we'll get another game like this from DateNighto, but I think the magic of Hustle Cat probably can't be replicated. Hustle Cat has been a comfort and an escape for me for years, and as someone who has been playing Otome games for over a decade, remains the standard to which I hold other games. Happy tenth anniversary, Hustle Cat! <3
Do you like cats? Do you like story driven, point and click style visual novels? Do you like slice of life stories with a splash of the supernatural? Do you like sickly sweet wholesome dating sims with cute little romantic cg's? Then pick this game up. It's darling and a great way to spend a couple evenings. It has a decently large cast of romanceable options, and sickly sweet, SWF style CG's to go along with each romance route. No NSFW what so ever to be found here. Just sweet romance, and cats. So. Many. Cute. Cats.
Hustle cat is everything I'd want in a dating sim. Not hard to play, cute stories, visuals, amazing music, and cats as a bonus. I bought this game years ago and finally played through it and it did not disappoint. I wish it was longer, the characters and the stories were very pleasant. It's a shame not more people have enjoyed this game truly. My order recomendation: 1. Finley 2. Hayes 3. Mason 4. Landry 5. Reese 6. Graves
This is one of my favourite games to play. However, don't get it for the full price. Get it once it's on a big sale or something. Because while this is a great game, with lots of character and personality, it is not good enough to warrant that much money lmao. Despite this, it's really comforting. It has cats, coffee, cat cafes, magic and witches. As well as a varied cast to romance, all who are so lovable in their own way that I cannot help but giggle whenever I replay their routes. They're all so stinking cute. Not to mention the camaraderie really feels somewhat natural, because of the wittiness of the dialogue. It flows so well. The only complaint is that it is a little short for my likings. The story feels unfinished somehow, even though it isn't really. I want to spend more time in this world, I want to get answers to questions that don't get answered fully, and I wish that I could find out what the devs planned for the route they never got to write, from their kickstarter goals. I'm so curious I could tear myself apart. But yeah, instead of doing so, I will swaddle myself in the comfort this game gives me, despite its flaws. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that one of my favourite visual novels is about a magical cat cafe. It's quite literally all of the things I dream about. So yeah! Definitely check it out for sure. ONLY WHEN IT'S ON SALE.
