Type of Game: Romance Visual Novel (Manage your Day) Length: About 3h (for all 4 routes) Story: 7/10 Art: 10/10 „It’s love love love that makes the world go round round round” – the quote from the protagonist of the game summarizes the game pretty well. Witches x Warlocks is a very short otome game, where you play as a witch or warlock named Fay Nightshade. While they are seemingly famous for their matchmaking skills and matchmaking parties (which they tend to mention VERY often), they have fully forgotten to study for the upcoming final exam and now only have a week left. Fay tries to use their charm on basically everyone available to make them help with the studies and manages to find four people. Zero – their childhood friend, a poltergeist, who is often enough annoyed by Fay’s carefree attitude and behavior, but still helps them out every time. Daimon – a Frankenstein creature, who is very gentle, shy and takes care of Fay as their roommate and friend. Carmilla – a cute vampire and Fay’s coworker, who is really susceptible to flattery (especially if it’s baseless flattery that basically equals her to a goddess) and will help Fay out, if they praise her a lot. Lawrence – a (cute) werewolf, who works at the shop, where Fay starts working part time. While he is grumpy at first, he soon starts to enjoy their time together (especially after they promise him that he will get a lot of meat for helping them out). His romance route is only available in the DLC. As for the gameplay, this is a very basic version of a “manage your day” game, where you can decide what Fay will do every day: Either they can brew some potions, or learn a spell from one of the characters or work part time. After 7 days, the final exam will be held and, depending on what you’ve learned and how many potions you have, you either pass or fail. I recommend to have every kind of potion at least once every day, even before the exam (because you will need them!), and to brew many potions for the exam, so you definitely pass. Brewing potions and learning spells is what you will be doing most of the time actually, so do not expect much dialogue in this game. You’ll have some short dialogue scenes in-between days or, if you learn spells from a character. But they are not very “deep” and usually just pretty funny. In general, you should view this game as a bunch of cute short stories that you can read through in one sitting. All in all, I do like this game. It’s especially well-made considering it’s a free one, so I would definitely recommend it, if you want to read something short and have a few hours of free time. However, I was not really impressed by most of the routes. While I really liked Zero’s route, I didn’t really like both Carmilla’s and Daimon’s routes because it seemed a bit forced. With Carmilla’s route it even felt a bit like Fay’s personality changed (they became a lot more “aggressive”, which did not really suit their personality in my opinion). This is a very cute Otome albeit short, I like Halloween/fantasy settings, the love interests are all interesting. Also the game play is very straightforward and easy after you know what to do. I really liked this VN. I do wished this was longer, I do wished the Love Interests had a proper route (especially Zero), the romance is quite rushed but it didn't take the enjoyment, especially when this game is mostly free and is established as a short game in the get go. Overall I do recommend to try this VN out

Very cute and wholesome, blows me away that it is free. Customization of looks, pronouns, and voice in a free game? Even cyberpunk couldnt do that and its 60 bucks and took a decade to make lol

This is so cute and whimsical omg. This'll be a good pick-me-up for anyone, it's carefree and fun, only a little drama but nothing too upsetting! But remember to have plenty of potions for the end exam... Sometimes the halloween-y tune gets stuck in my head, it's good too. The voice talent is really good and the sprites & cgs are amazing. I liked most of the protag's personality as well, having such a bubbly and energetic attitude! But I get it if it's too much for people, so a warning on that. Too bad there isn't a gallery to stare at but alas, I still enjoyed my time playing!!
