HYPERDIMENSION NEPTUNIA RE;BIRTH 3 Re;Birth 3 is yet another lovely and memorable entry in the Neptunia series, and honestly, it deserves way more credit than it sometimes gets. Right from the start, the game has that same cozy, familiar charm the series is known for, and it tells a story that genuinely sticks with you even after the credits roll. Story & Character Growth I know not everyone was thrilled with how Neptune treats Nepgear early on in the story and yeah, fair enough, it's rough to watch at times. But that's actually exactly WHY this story works so well for me. Neptune doesn't stay the same throughout this game; the characters genuinely grow along the way, and by the end, her dynamic with Nepgear feels genuinely earned and hits a lot harder because of it. Growth arcs are at their best when that development is actually earned. Gameplay & Pacing Gameplay-wise? Just like Re;Birth 2, this game nails the balance perfectly. It's smooth, fun, and engaging, and the game never trips over its own pacing at any point. Everything just keeps rolling forward it's pure enjoyment from start to finish, and I've got no complaints here at all. Soundtrack And then there's the soundtrack, which is honestly incredible. Purple Heart's theme is my absolute favorite. And if you're wondering... yeah, Iffy is still my favorite character. Undefeated. Untouchable. :3 But It's Not For Everyone Let's be honest though this game definitely isn't going to land with everyone. The dungeons recycle the same hallways and layouts way more than they should, and the story stays pretty light and easygoing rather than going for any deep drama. If anime humor and traditional JRPG grinding aren't your thing, this game might wear you down instead of winning you over. Bottom Line Despite some early friction between the characters, Re;Birth 3 delivers genuine character growth, an excellent gameplay balance, and one of the series' best soundtracks. A satisfying and well-earned conclusion to the entire Re;Birth trilogy.

I played Victory on PS3 first, got the Platinum trophy on it, and then went onto rush through Re;Birth3 practically immediately after. And I didn't really like it. I had issues with the PC port, the gameplay loop and the lack of the scouting system from the original. I didn't like the change to the SP mechanic and my game would often softlock when I played it, which just frustrated me. And the scouting system being missing meant I had no easy way of grinding EXP. 6 years later, how do I find the game now? Honestly...largely the same. However, I do not dislike it as much as I used to anymore. 6 years later, I think Re;Birth3 is just...fine. Not great, not terrible. I'm having a decent time playing through it again, but my complaints about it remain largely the same. First, I will say this - Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory has my favorite story in Neptunia. Yes, better than VII in my opinion. And while Re;Birth3 tells the same story as the original game, I think it's inferior. The re-translation in Re;Birth3 attempts to minimize the straight up bullying of Nepgear or Neptune being a complete insufferable dumpster fire. I acknowledge those efforts to make the characters you play as more bearable, but for me - that was exactly why I loved Victory. Its writing was unhinged at times, to the point where it actually actively made you question whether you're doing the right thing or not. And even then, Re;Birth3 doesn't exactly solve those issues either. Nepgear still gets treated horribly, Neptune is still an ass, and the cast in general can be insufferable at times. It's just that now it feels way more disconnected than it ever felt in Victory. Second, I don't mind the lack of the scouting system anymore. Back then, I didn't like the Stella's Dungeon mechanic at all. I felt it was too slow and too cumbersome to get any meaningful rewards from it so I largely ignored its existence altogether. Nowadays though, considering I'm not rushing through the game anymore, it's just fine. It's far less abusable than the scouting system, yes, but I also just don't really mind it all that much. It's just "okay". Third, no I still don't like the change to the SP system. I stand by my statement that the new SP system effectively makes the EXE moves completely useless. I think it was a shoddy attempt at remixing the gameplay to make Re;Birth3 stand out from Victory. I understand it was a necessary change, otherwise Re;Birth3 would've just been Victory with a retranslation and maybe some UI polishing. But I still don't like it as much. I can't tell you how many times I ended up doing unnecessary battles back to back to back to back to back to back just to refill my SP gauge. The pacing in that regard is completely whack. They replaced the need to grind EXP from Victory with the need to grind for SP in Re;Birth3 which is...well, you accomplished nothing with that in the end, you're just doing the same thing for a different result. Lastly though...wow, Re;Birth3 lacks personality. All the nations in this game are just menus, unlike in the original where they were more like 2D hub worlds. It's a small detail but it just makes the game feel more...cheap? I don't know. And I've noticed a bunch of chirper events that literally repeat the same line of dialogue from chapter to chapter, lacking any real charm. Overall, 6 years later, my opinion has shifted on the game to just being "fine". I still prefer the original PS3 release over this game but it's not a game I'd tell people not to play. It's still an interesting story to follow and one I still consider the best in the series. But also one that I find to be inferior to the original PS3 release of the game. Considering that Victory is exclusively locked to the PS3 and that its price on the used market is ridiculous, playing Re;Birth3 is fine. It's an inferior experience in my opinion, but it's the only real way to experience the story this game portrays, so just based on that I'll throw out a cautious recommendation for the game. Word of advice though - please avoid the DLC characters like Histoire & the other oracles. They completely screw up the balance of the game and make it incredibly boring. Trust me, they aren't worth making this game a 2 click one-hit KO simulator.
This is probably my favorite Neptunia game, and my favorite from the Re;Birth series. They basically perfected the formula with this one. Great story and characters, and great gameplay loop. They branch out to the other dimensions with this one, so the characters all feel similar but not quite the same. Lots to do and unlock post game as well.
More of a noteworthy difference from Rebirth 2 to here than Rebirth 1 to Rebirth 2. I like this game quite a bit and I think it does the best job of the trilogy of having interesting villains. I also personally like Plutia who gets introduced here. Really my only complaints are that there were more than a few instances where I expected characters to stop talking and they just kept going at it and some jokes are a bit more out there than previous entries. Still, good Neptunia game
