NOTE: Other reviews mention bugs and crashes that I'm sure continue to exist. With my playthrough in particular I frequently experienced a crash that would happen when visiting a shop and a cutscene would play. Talking to the vendor afterwards and selecting a cancel option would cause the game to crash. To get around this, I would leave the shop before returning to talk to the vendor. It's certainly unpleasant to deal with and I saved several dozens of times to avoid losing progress, but that's just an unpleasant reality of these old, niche ports so I accept the tradeoff I play/intend to play these games casually so don't particularly care about achieving the true endings or multiple playthroughs. I spent my playthrough mostly synthesizing and fulfilling quests, though did spend a while grinding hunts and exploring to obtain low-hanging points towards ranking up. I enjoyed the gameplay loop well enough, and while combat continues to be somewhat barebones, I was able to get through while keeping it a mostly enjoyable distraction As a follow-up to Atelier Rorona, you can expect more of the same with slightly revamped systems. The builtin timer is both more strict and more generous, as there is only one true deadline (to achieve Diamond rank). Semi-regularly checking in with Cordelia is still important for ranking up to obtain more rewarding quests, but there's an element of planning visits to Arland from Alanya that creates some nice decisionmaking as moving long distances on the map now is more of a time commitment. It's a nice change of pace that makes the 3 years go by more smoothly wherein for Atelier Rorona I spent most of year 3 turning in crappy items in bulk and sleeping just to get the game done faster. Rorona always felt excessively easy even with the timer, which led to me taking years to beat it due to boredom, but Totori's more demanding yet flexible systems allowed me to look forward to every play session

Pretty much everything in this game is better than in Atelier Rorona. The only downgrade from Rorona is the fact that you can't see your chance of success or alchemy level when you are in the cauldron menu, which is mildly annoying.

Good game, feels more complete than Rorona Crashing issues in a game that doesn't have any form of auto-saving so you're constantly losing progress. Otherwise good game. Edit: Also this game will just not work if you have more than 1 discrete gpu installed, it's the same for Rorona aswell, That could've been a me problem though but they crashed in the same way; Loading the launcher, and after pressing start game, the game will open for a split second then crash.

Haven't finished it yet but I love it. Plenty of people don't recommend this game as the starting entry into the Atelier series and I can see why, it's the oldest mechanic wise. But for me, that's exactly why I love it and why it's MY entry point to the series. You can feel the 2010s poring from its graphic and gameplay. Story, characters, music, and arts, are all amazing. The gameplay loop of crafting, exploring, and battlings are engaging. Can't wait to finish this and continue with the rest of the series since it can only go up from here (QoL gameplay wise).

Where do I start.... This game is REALLY old and has NO QOL at all for anything, so it is really really rough to play and hard without any guides, tons of missable events that can ruin a playthrough. My only REAL issue with this game however is that the port is really bad and if you don't have a good CPU, you are cooked, unless you use a community fix, which I have no idea if it exist for this game or not. This game, regarding the gameplay is genuinly worse in every way compared to Atelier Rorona DX (because it's based upon Rorona plus), so play that game first. The good about this game is basically everything else. The story is good, even for an atelier game, the OST is really good, the characters are fun. I would ONLY buy this game if it was on sale, but even then, I'll genuinly won't ever touch this game ever again.
