This is a really good game. but there is one god forsaken issue i have with it. SPOILERS for if you haven't played/haven't unlocked the switch colors on dash ability. (you have been warned) instead of just giving you an omni-dash, the game also takes away your ability to double jump. if you are like me you have likely been playing for HOURS before this point, and thus now need to recondition your mind so you can do the courses again. I've had the upgrade for an hour and i already hate it. the only reason i keep going is from reading other reviews here you get it back later.
I enjoyed this game a lot at first. It was a fun take on an incremental game. However, there is an unlock that you have to get to progress and it takes away the ability to double jump and turns your dash into an omni-directional jump. It genuinely ruins the game at this point. The platforming feels really bad afterwards after spending hours with the double jump. I'm hoping that they patch it or something to give us a toggle between omni-dash and double jump because it feels terrible. I recommend the game if they can fix that otherwise I think most people are going to be incredibly frustrated.
One of the brilliant things about this game is that it always gives you an option not to be idle, Sure, you can complete a course once and then let the idle mechanics take it from there, but you can also choose to fill your time by challenging yourself to get better and better times. Not done with the full game yet, but the B-sides on the demo showed that you can ramp up the challenge for yourself hugely, which only increases the satisfaction when you squeak out a new level and even more when you master the hardest versions.
Really cool game, a lot of people reviewed it badly without playing it how it was intended. You arent supposed to do a lap once then "Wait" the clones barely give you as many points as actively doing and it, and later on you get multipliers a certain amount of time you complete it manually. And it doesn't get "boring quick" and "same gameplay loop" they keep introducing new mechanics every 20min on average. To me at least a lot of the reviews currently are jumping the gun to giving their opinion to refund it before they reach the 2 hours which is very sad.
This game is targeting me. I love incrementals, I love platformers, and I love optimizing things to be as efficient as they can. This game ticks all of those boxes and then some. I probably spent over 7 hours in the demo just optimizing every single course I could, and exploring everything. This was an instant buy for me and if you like any of those game genres it should be for you too.
