Absolute banger of a game. It's one of those incremental games that completely hijacks your brain with constant progression and satisfying upgrades. Every new room introduces fresh mechanics and watching all of them interact through powerful synergies makes every run feel rewarding. It is simple to learn, hard to put down, and constantly gives you another goal to chase. I think I get it. I watched the stream when Lava launched this; he talked about this game being the ultimate compilation of this things that he has learned developing Idleon - and that there was a story, a lesson, a "something" to get. Well, I think I get it. I've only played for less than two hours - haven't finished the game - but I think I get it. I want to recommend this game. It is like a bucket of cold water for any idle gamer, any grinder, any "I'm not a whale, but I do buy the booster packs"-type of gamer (like myself). And I am disgusted by myself. This game (as of writing) has no microtransactions. You buy the game, you get the full experience. And the full experience is that you are a fool. Yes, you have fun the first couple of hours; throwing the dart, hey here's a new room, paying the scratching game, and so on. But then you get to the third room and you start to think; "What am I doing with my life? I am wasting my life playing a 'make-believe grind/gambling game' - and for what?" It is not that fun anymore, it's just numbers going up. It is like watching a stopwatch. There're so many experiences to be had, so many stories to experience, so many fun games to play - and yet I am here, getting excited by a +0,05 to my dart throwing machine, "which makes the darts go faster, so I don't have to play so many darts, so I can get the the next level, so I can do the scratch ticket, so I can..." This game is like a PSA and if you have been sucked into an idle game or other exploratory games, like I have, this is the naked experience laid bare. I want to be candid; I am not being sarcastic; I truly think this game is praiseworthy. Not for the gameplay, but for the experience and (at least as I read it) the commentary. It is like a cold, hard mirror - and I hate what I see. But I am glad I saw it. Unfortunately I bought this more than two weeks ago, so I cannot refund it, although I want to. I'll probably finish it - one last hurrah - "to get the pet and to get the achievements and...." (Gambling) Addiction is a real, serious issue, seek help.
While the game is fine for what it is, it reuses many assets from the developer's other game. If you like some elements from that game, it's fine to get. But if you plan to buy this game, definitely buy it on sale. Some problems are easy to spot. Each subsequent playthrough doesn’t make the game harder, just longer. The first needs 1M per room, the second 10M, the third 100M, and so on. One of the biggest problems with this game is that it tends to crash if left open too long. I left it open on the dart one for the mouse to make gold while I went to work. When I came home, the game was closed, and nothing had been saved since I cleared it early.
I mean, it's literally the mini games from IdleOn and Idle Skiller with the very same assets... Fun for a playthrough or so, but calling this the cumulative result of all he learned in 10 or so years of development seems like a very weird flex. Nice on it's own despite being an asset flip of his other games. Only purchase on sale tbh.
