I do recommend Indivisible, seeing it as an impressive piece of art. This game actually has an insane backstory, for worst, which I was unaware of before buying and playing the game. You can look it up on your own regarding the details, but the the biggest consequence that affects the game is that it lost it's immense potential which will probably never be witnessed, which is a big woe. Indivisible is a platformer, with lots of movement puzzles and semi-turn-based combat with many fighting game elements. You play as Ajna, a girl from Ashwat village who goes around absorbing unique characters into her inner realm after her village got destroyed to aid in her quest, whatever that may be. Characters become playable after they get absorbed. The writing is nothing groundbreaking, with a pretty cliche, nearly satirical beginning. While mostly just bordering corny and funny, during the midgame, Ajna becomes more and more insufferable, but that is by design. The tone gets serious out of nowhere in the last parts of the story, with major plot decisionsn I didn't expect, which is a positive. You travel between 7 regions and visit them repeatedely, and I was impressed by how the developers managed to take you back to these places, creating a story which such little scenes. Though some people might see that as backtracking. Every so often, you will unlock new platforming abilities, and I enjoyed the story telling through this system. As you progress through the story, Ajna gets stronger, which can be reflected in the difficulty of the platforming. With more abilities, previous parkours can be trivialised, with a sort of "Wow, look at how long that used to take me! Now that I progressed, it's a piece of cake!" moment. There is a new game + after the main story, which in my opinion had a decent ending. The combat is fun. Other reviews may state that it's not that deep and you can get buy with mashing, but that doesn't make it bad. Yes, you might get away with mashing, but where is the fun in that? There are many characters, each with unique animations and attack gimmicks. Just mashing on some characters don't bring out their full potential, and that proves itself with the first obtainable character. You could also technically beat the game by spamming one move/ weapon in other games, but that just isn't fun. All the main playable characters have a super which has different levels based on the bars of idhhi consumed, but "extra" characters don't, which is a shame. Indivisible isn't exactly handholdy after the tutorial in the intro. The only tips you'´ll be getting passively will be character guides, which are kinda incomplete. The game just wants you to experience everything by yourself. You get to absorb an NPC midgame which explains the intricacies of the combat system, so there's that. Obviously, as mentioned before, the art direction of the game is absolutely phenomenal, and is likely the reason you might be interested in the game at all. Major characters in the story all have great designs, even if they aren't playable. It's simply great. I wouldn't buy the game if it isn't on sale, considering it's background. But if it has a discount, I do think it's worth getting to at least acknowledge the beautiful work the original developers have created, which could have been so much more. One tip I would give is to not fret about trying to collect or unlock every puzzle you see, as most of the time you lack the abilities to do so. You'll return to that place sooner or later, so no need to waste too much time on them.

GET this game if you like: -Valkyrie Profile 1 -Indie anime art style -Strategic combat -Tons of characters to recruit -Rpg + platformer hybrid with metroidvania elements. AVOID if you hate: -Platforming -Backtracking -Having to remember and utilize a lot of mechanics just to progress -Not having a proper fast travel until near the end of the game -Mentions to certain events and characters you'll never be able to experiment (read forums for some insight about this point). Recommended? of course! it's a really good game. My 100% badge doesn't lie.

Criminally underrated gem of a technically Metroidvania game. Solid 9/10. That being said, let me save you hours of your life: don't do any of the "back tracking" stuff outside of the main story until you get to part 3 (5 Iddhi bars) and have access to the majority of exploration tools. All the Incarnations(characters) will have side quests near the end that will take you everywhere anyways, so save the backtracking for then! Extra edit: Once you complete characters side quests fully, they reach max level anyways, so COMBAT IS TECHNICALLY OPTIONAL outside of any required/boss fights(and honestly, the levels don't do that much), so if the tedium of combat later once it becomes mostly button mashing annoys you, you're also welcome for this tidbit, too.

I enjoyed the game quite a bit, would easily play it even longer than 20+ hours needed to beat it. It has few flaws, some of which relatively major, but I feel overall journey is great, would recommend. I suggest don't making my mistake, trying to find all upgrade collectibles early and just wait for later, when you will have more traversal abilities. That should cut a lot of unnecessary backtracking, making it much more tolerable. What i liked: ⦁ art-style is gorgeous ⦁ voice-acting is mostly top-notch ⦁ very good music ⦁ battle system is fresh and interesting ⦁ there are a lot of interesting characters ⦁ story is surprisingly good for what it is. I mean, it is probably average overall, but has interesting twists and developments, that was engaging throughout whole game What I disliked: ⦁ with limited fast-travel there is a lot of backtracking. Especially early ⦁ too few traversal abilities at the beginning, too much conceptually redundant near the end. All gamepad face buttons will have multiple direction-dependent actions. It is hard to quickly execute them without adding that much depth ⦁ enemies are too tanky ⦁ battle system isn't fully realized, it is painfully too simplistic whilst being so close to being so much more ⦁ all original devs left the company with some drama, current owner isn't that great of a person. Therefore, I'd recommend waiting for high discount.
