If you believe that playing games with your partner can strengthen your relationship, then It Takes Two isn’t just a game, it’s a full-blown course in couples therapy. The story is as simple as an IKEA chair manual: a couple on the verge of divorce is magically turned into dolls. To become human again, Cody and May must learn to work together. Sounds adorable until you find yourselves yelling at each other in perfect harmony. The gameplay is a constant experiment. One level has you shooting nails and swinging on ropes, another has you steering a tiny minecart, or even fighting a talking vacuum cleaner. Yes, an evil vacuum cleaner. Probably the one I forgot to clean for years. The visuals are bright and vibrant, as if the artists binge-read children’s books while drawing... and maybe took a bit of, let’s say, inspiration from Madagascar. The levels are so diverse that by the end of the game, you might start to suspect they tried to cram EVERY genre into one box. You’ve got platforming, racing, and even a marriage argument simulator. But the real star of the game is Dr. Hakim, the talking relationship book. With his charisma and lines like "dance like a butterfly, love like a boss," he’s clearly aiming for the title of the most annoyingly wise NPC of the decade. It Takes Two is a game that reminds you relationships aren’t just about "press a button and it works." They require teamwork, a little grease (literally and figuratively), and, of course, the ability to laugh at yourself, or at each other.

The elephant scene was a bit graphic, it has left a permanent scar in my heart. I can't believe we went through with such a plan.

I finished this game with my wife. Each level is a complete standalone game. I really feel more connected to my wife after that. The world needs more of these creative games made with love.

Bought this to play with my ex... we made it about half way through before stopping and later breaking up. Ironic given the story and theme. Game has lots of fun moments that require team work and problem solving. Not too challenging. I played on Mouse and key while she used controller and it worked great. Visuals are good, sound is good and the boss fights were challenging. Not much to complain about with it except the cheesy Book character! Story was a touching one and pretty good.

Great game to play with your partner. This is the first game that we played together and she is someone who never liked games to begin with, but she absolutely loved this game. Do be patient with your partner though and let them do their thing!
