+ Fast-paced side-scrolling dogfight game. It will definitely test your reflexes + Each mission has a different challenge. Don’t expect equipping the latest weapons and mods can get you through a mission. You need to strategize your loadout, especially if you are aiming to ACE (highest mission completion rank) the mission. Cons - Game is not controller-friendly. Sure, this game supports controllers. But there is a huge advantage using mouse and keyboard. It is already given that it is easier to aim using a mouse, but it also provides you a cursor. When you play using a controller, that cursor is gone. This is a huge disadvantage especially if you are aiming to ACE a mission as you gain more points when you miss less. Also, without a cursor, it is difficult to hit a target using an unguided missile. Spamming unguided missiles is also not a good strategy as you can only fire 4 at a time, you need to wait for it to reload before you can fire. There is a guided missle in the game, but it generates less points and combo multiplier. Again, a huge disadvantage when you are aiming to ACE the mission. There should be atleast a decent indicator where it tells you where the plane is facing, that can be seen through all of the explosion when using a controller. - The achievement “ACE+” feels luck-based for wave-related missions. You gain this achievement for ACEing all missions in New Game+. For example, OP16 (mission) and OP1. For OP16, you need to defend an aircraft. The AI is not that great, always spearheading the bullets and the enemies, making it difficult to complete the mission in ACE. To get ACE, you must get a lot of points. You can do this by getting combo and counter multipliers, weapon usage, accuracy, and time. Combo multiplier is your best friend here, and you cannot depend on other multipliers. You need to use the unguided missile to get 0.3 multiplier each kill, and it reduces 0.1 multiplier per 0.5 second, I think. ACEing this mission is luck-based because you have a fix amount of enemies, with random spawn and fly pattern on the area. Imagine, the next enemy is on the far right side of the area, you will lose a lot of multiplier. Your best hope is they fly closer so you can set up to 3.0 combo multiplier to ACE the mission. Also, during the start of the mission, your plane enters from the left, facing the right side of the screen. Again with the random spawn, your best scenario is all enemies spawned at the right side of the screen to get the best combo multiplier. OP1 in New Game+ is definitely near-impossible to ACE. I honestly don’t know how I did it. I just spammed barrel-roll (evade mechanic in game) within a tank (yes, there are ground enemies in the game) and the rank meter went up from rank B to S. I already ACEd the other endgame and boss missions, and this seems to be the most difficult mission to ACE. Overall, this is a fun game due to its gameplay mechanics. But know that aiming for 100% is skill and luck-based. I give it 6/10.

It is like an evolution to Luftrausers game, well made. The weapon customisation is good to keep things fresh and we can customise the gameplay according to our style. Missions are short and fun, we can keep playing in short sessions which is nice

At first, when I started playing Jet Lancer, the controls felt very wonky and unimaginable, and everything felt kind of unpredictable. But as you push through some levels and get the hang of controlling the jet and shooting, it starts becoming more natural. The hectic feeling stays, but in a controlled chaos type of way where everything feels fast and slightly unpredictable, yet still managed and planned out. The gameplay for this game is absolutely polished, with good controls, fun weapons, and fair but challenging levels to go through. The story, honestly, is something I could take or leave and is just something I found myself skimming through and ignoring, as there wasn't much going on. However, the fact that it wasn't overloaded with story elements and was mostly just gameplay definitely made it feel like it wasn’t an absolute drag to sit through. It also gives a decent motive for the levels and missions in the game. The music is good, but the game doesn’t have very many songs, which does quickly become noticeable. Overall, the game’s alright. If it looks good to you, give it a go.

What if Luftrausers had a (really good) story mode and just a lot more stuff in general? That would be this game, and it is _incredible_.

Playing this game is the closest you'll get to feeling like you're in a aerial combat anime.
