I will emphasize that I played the first game "Legend" on impossible difficulty, which I abandoned at the 40 hour mark due to the ridiculous constant tedium this difficulty involved, and then I played Crossworlds to completion on hard difficulty, which wasn't that much better than Legend was on impossible. This is where I realized these developers were absolutely HORRID at balancing the game. Especially considering the fake footage they upload in the trailers where the player's army somehow overpowers the enemy, which NEVER happens unless maybe if you're on easy mode or literally cheating. But I digress. This game felt more competent in terms of difficulty. I picked hard and it feels like it is exactly how it should be. You are not constantly faced with "impossible" and "lethal" groups like in Crossworlds. Instead, most encounters in the first 10 hours seem to be ranging from slightly weaker to stronger. The game is not a cakewalk by any means but certainly nothing as ridiculous as the previous installment. King's Bounty Warriors of the North (Ice and fire DLC included - which is de facto the definitive edition of the game) felt more competent in many regards. The Vikings are a fun faction to play, with a lot of active abilities to use on every unit. The developers seem to have learned from previous experiences and expanded on most of the prior mechanics in a more fun manner. The stores are no longer barren with units and Vikings are aplenty on every Island you embark on (at least so far). They have nerfed a lot of the resurrection mechanics from the previous installments, which makes no loss battles a bit less feasible, but losing units is not as big of a deal anymore because it's easy to refill your army stacks in stores. Overall, I am having a blast and I would say this is a very enjoyable King's Bounty experience. As for the crashes, I have had only 2 in the 11 hours that I've played as of this review. Once as I tried to load a save, and the other as I tried to save the game (in which case the save actually worked and was loaded successfully upon game restart). I'm on Windows 10 so I'm hoping that the consistent crashes people complain about are Win11 related. Hopefully the situation doesn't regress as I put more hours into the game. Overall, I do appreciate the subtle changes to the game design and what seem to be actually tested difficulty settings. This series was so close to absolute perfection, it's kind of insane.

Delete saves every once in awhile, improves stability, still crashes but less often. Other than that good as any other Kings Bounty game, just somewhat longer.

Has to be the best King's Bounty. Finishing the timeline, probably the best and most engaging early game and difficulty its just perfect.
