April 2025
If Wes Anderson directed an episode of Arthur after eating too much sugar and watching old noir films, you’d get Later Alligator. This game is an absolutely bonkers, delightfully absurd point-and-click mystery stuffed to the snout with charm, wit, and more alligators than a Florida golf course in July. You play as a mild-mannered gator named Pat who’s convinced he's about to be whacked by the Alligator Mafia. What follows is a frantic day of wandering around a lovingly animated cartoon New York (excuse me, Alligator New York City), talking to an endless parade of eccentric reptilian relatives, and playing dozens of quirky mini-games ranging from the laughably easy to the delightfully broken. The writing is razor-sharp—every line feels like it was workshopped by a committee of internet meme poets—and the art style? Imagine if someone turned a doodle-covered napkin into a playable cartoon. It’s chaotic, it’s beautiful, and it somehow works perfectly. Is it deep? Not really. Is it long? Nah, you’ll finish it in a few hours. But is it the kind of game that makes you grin uncontrollably while frantically trying to beat a puzzle involving psychic twin gators and haunted elevators? Oh yes. Yes it is.

Pretty cool! But a lot of minigames are easy to lose because they are reaction time dependent or luck based, and they still progress your time if you lose. And some achievements are REALLY hard to get too.

Awesome game! Nice humor, unique fun minigames, good music, i like everything! Its a shame I didnt encounter the game sooner! Don't mind the playtime - for some reason steam decided to force me offline. It took me ~3 hours to complete the game blindly, and this is just the first playthrough - without all puzzle pieces and interactions. I'm definitely going for 100%.

short game with a bit of charm with the characters and minigames to go with them for the most part but you'd need to go through the whole game several times to get a full completion and some of the achievements can be a pain to deal with (looking at you pinball lizard and card shark) The Yay: - short game, doesn't require a lot of time to go through - characters are charming and can lead to some funny moments - music is beautiful and captures the atmosphere of the scene The Nay: - can get repetitive when going for a full completion - some achievements are down to chance, worst case scenario you'd have to do the whole game again - known unpatched bugs like the pinball machine softlock and the missing puzzle piece requiring file editing to fix the issue
