Same game but at least it has achievements now, worth a purchase but when its on sale.

This is a fun game, though the description is misleading. I was under the assumption when I purchased that this was like LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga, which combined the original two LEGO Star Wars games into one complete game. This does not. It is simply a remastered version with a launcher, and the games are still separate. It's still fun, and I'd recommend for fans of Harry Potter or LEGO. But if you already own the other versions and are only looking for a combined experience, then this is not for you.

It's the same LEGO HP games from before, just both packaged into one (you select which game to start at launch) and now with Steam achievements. I reached 100% on both games & Steam achievements in 55.7 hours. I got sidetracked and went afk a lot though. I had fun. Most of the achievements you get from simply playing & reaching 100% for both games. A handful, however, require messing around in creative ways. Just a FYI, the 100% completion achievement for Years 1-4 glitched on me until I got an additional achievement afterwards, THEN it unlocked. So if it does the same to you, don't rage-quit right away.

Fore-note: this is the two separate games with a launcher included, as I suspected, not one singular, massive game, for which I was hoping, but for about half the asking price, definitely worth it, if only for the nostalgia now being combined with achievements! Near as I can tell, those saying the game crashes Year 1 are more likely having hardware trouble, or greater software issues than the game itself. I'm using a fairly mundane laptop, and it's working fine for me, minus a bit more lag than is present when playing the original copies. Honestly, with a 50% sale, totally worth it. I got just past the Snape Cape Incerate level in Year 1 in just under 90 minutes to make sure about the crashes, and then played through enough of Year 5 to reach Hogwarts within the 2 hour mark for a refund if needed, but the game works fine, besides that aforementioned lag and being a wee bit over-priced for ahaving a completely unchanged compilation of code.

In my experience, LEGO® Harry Potter™ Collection is better than the original versions of the games in the following ways: [*]Settings like screen resolution are correctly automatically set. The original versions of the games required manual adjustments. [*]The games runs noticeably smoother. They are still locked to 60 FPS like the original versions, but I get little micro stutters in the original versions of the games like every once in a while it will skip a frame; I haven't had the micro-stutter issue in these new versions. [*]The games don't freak out if you have multiple monitors. When I launch the original versions of the games with multiple monitors and/or alt+tab, they will mess up all the windows I have open in the background and sometimes just crash. These new versions of the game work properly with multiple monitors. [*]These versions of the of the games include Steam achievements. [*]The user interfaces (menus & text) are higher resolution. The original versions of the games support high resolutions already, but their user interfaces (menus & text) are stretched on those higher resolutions which can be unappealing. That is pretty much it. With so little improvement over the original versions of the games, this is a very hard sell for anyone who already owns the original versions. However, for me, LEGO® Harry Potter™ Collection is worth it for being able to alt+tab without the game crashing or interfering with my secondary monitor. I need the ability to multitask while I am gaming. This collection allows me to multitask, so I am happy. :)
