LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is a really fun and enjoyable game, especially if you’re a fan of the Marvel movies. It takes a lot of its story from the MCU, which makes it feel familiar and exciting to play through. The gameplay is classic LEGO style, with simple combat, puzzles, and lots of exploration. It’s easy to pick up and still fun the whole way through, especially when switching between different characters and using their abilities. The character roster is a big highlight. There are tons of heroes and versions of characters to unlock, each with their own unique powers, which keeps the game interesting and gives you reasons to keep playing. The open world areas are also really enjoyable. Exploring places like New York and completing side missions adds a lot of extra content beyond the main story. Overall, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is a fun and solid LEGO game that’s perfect for Marvel fans. It may not be as original as some other LEGO titles, but it still delivers a great experience. Does NOT work with official Xbox controllers. Seems to think the 1st controller is two controllers and the 2nd controller never gets a chance to connect. This renders the game unplayable. Utter waste of money if you intend to play the game with controllers instead of keyboard and mouse. It's a shame, because I've played this game on a Wii U and it's a really good game to play. Just a shame I can't physically play the game on Steam using controllers, even though Steam advertises the game as being compatible with controllers. Especially the £40 official Xbox controllers I went out of my way to buy instead of cheap knock off controllers. This is false advertisement. Considering the game has been out for 9 years or so now this is unacceptable. Edit (two days later): I have now finally got the game to recognise two distinct controllers. It took me 4 or 5 days to figure out which has been a bit of a nightmare, and I was considering getting a refund if this last ditch attempt didn't work. I could not find clear instructions anywhere online or on Steam Community. Here's what I did to finally get 2 official Xbox controllers to work with Lego Marvel's Avengers game. Plug both Xbox controllers into USB ports or connect them both via Bluetooth. Then go to "Steam" in the top left corner of the screen. Then click "Settings". Then click "Controller" on the left hand side of the steam settings window. Then, under "External Gamepad Settings" section, look for "Enable Steam input for Xbox controllers" and make sure that's turned OFF for both controllers. Then UNPLUG the 2nd controller and leave it unplugged until I say so later on. Then go to your Steam library of games, where Lego Marvel's Avengers is located. On the right-hand side of the screen, around the middle of the screen, there are 4 icons: a gear (manage), a controller icon (controller settings specifically for the game), an info icon (self-explanatory) and a heart symbol (again self-explanatory). Click on the controller icon for game controller settings. If it says Steam input is enabled, make sure to disable it for both controllers. Next, go back to the Lego Marvel's Avengers page in your Steam library. Click on "Manage" (the gear symbol). Click "Properties". On the left-hand side of the window, you should see "Controller"; click on that. Where it says "Override for LEGO MARVEL'S Avengers" and there is a drop-down bar. Make sure the drop-down bar says "Disable Steam Input". Keep this window open. Then, on the left-hand side of that same window, you should see "Installed Files" on the left-hand side where "Controller" was, click on "Installed Files. Then click on "Verify integrity of game files". Wait for that to complete, then close that window. Next, you should make sure only "Controller 1" is connected either via USB or Bluetooth. Then start the game by pressing "Play". DO NOT PLUG THE 2ND CONTROLLER IN YET! Wait until you get past the main title screen. Select "New game" then pick a save slot for your playthrough. Allow the game to begin and you should see the cut scene at the beginning of the game with the Avengers in the snow trying to get to the castle where Vision and her brother are being kept. MOST IMPORTANT BIT! As soon as the gameplay begins. Do not touch ANY buttons on "Controller 1". Plug in "Controller 2" and press the start button on "Controller 2". The game should then connect to the 2nd controller and the game should run properly. It has taken me the best part of 5 days to figure this out. Hopefully it helps other people to figure it out faster.
