Overall, it was a mostly decent experience (except for the occasional game-breaking bugs, watch out for those). Better than the 2nd game, and almost (but not quite) on par with the 1st. It's clear that a lot more love went into this compared to the second installment (I still have nightmares from playing it), and it turned out to be everything LEGO Batman 2 should have been. That being said, it's probably a bit too late for this, but if only we could get a LEGO Indiana Jones 3 that fixes all the issues the second game had, it'd come full circle, and I'd gladly pay full price for it.
My favorite game of the trilogy. The game is not as popular as the second one because instead of one big open world, this game has smaller planets that you can visit. Now I didn't get the hype around 2's Gotham City, but it does feels like a big downgrade. The levels are pretty good, I think Lego Batman 1 still had the best levels, but this is a close second. Liked how they made the different lantern corps an important part of the story, I have a sweet spot for them. But the one thing this game has over it's predecessors is the character roster. This is the biggest in the series, with many deep cuts and fun inclusions, like Condiment King. But this means they can't make every character unique, most of the times they share abilities, but they still have unique animations. Overall, I think this game is a fitting end to the original trilogy, haven't played Legacy of the Dark Knight yet, but I'm excited for it.
LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is a fun and creative entry in the LEGO Batman series that takes things in a much bigger direction. Instead of staying in Gotham, the game expands into space, which gives it a fresh and different feel. The gameplay is still the classic LEGO formula with puzzles, combat, and character switching. It’s enjoyable and easy to get into, though at times it can feel a bit repetitive compared to earlier games. The character roster is one of the strongest parts. There are a ton of DC characters to unlock, including many lesser-known ones, which adds variety and keeps things interesting. The different planets and locations are unique, but they don’t always feel as engaging as exploring Gotham City in previous games. The hub areas are fun, but not as memorable as the open worlds from earlier titles. Overall, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is a solid and enjoyable LEGO game. It tries new ideas and delivers a fun experience, even if it doesn’t reach the same level as some of the earlier entries. Gameplay: 8/10 Very Good | Overall: 8/10 Very Good
Unfortunately, this is the weakest game in the trilogy for me. The levels felt repetitive, the puzzles were annoying, and I honestly struggled to get through some parts of it. It also suffers from a bit of unnecessary padding, and even the story was the least interesting of the three. That said, it was still fun playing in co-op, and being able to use characters from the Justice League as well as the villains added a lot to the experience.
