It is hard to recommend this game but also so easy. The game is beautiful. The gameplay is fun and kind of mindless, the missions are fun and see all these worlds looking how they do, it really is a feast for the eyes. Hats off to Tt Games. They've nailed the world. The main gripe is the grind. If you want to hit 100%, prepare yourself to collect 1200, yes one thousand two hundred Kyber bricks. The missions and challenges are very easy to complete and there is no sense of accomplishment. Just grind. These missions are their most tedious where, to get one kyber brick, you must travel to 3 other planets and do 3 missions, just for one brick on a wholly different planet. It is unnecessary bloat. To quote Count Dooku "Surely you can do better!" If you aren't bothered about 100% - grab this game. it is wonderful. If you want 100% and you have a job.... good luck finding the time. I am 780 bricks in and I hopped on to play and continue my grind today, only to be immediately bored after collecting 3. I will recommend it because I have decided to not 100% this game (yet) and for what I have played in terms of the non bloat content, it is lovely. (edit) There are a few key things missing that you'd think would be there. One for me is the severe lack of a clone gunship as your starship. Easily one of my favourite ship designs ever and it's not in the game, despite how heavily featured it is in the franchise. Also, I hope you're ready for them to milk the GONK droid memes. It's tiring.

I don't think the game is bad, I think it's just not for me. I think if you're young, or have a child to play with, I'd say this is awesome. But I just don't care much for this. Despite what I write below, I do recommend this game, as it is a decent LEGO game, but there are just some things I couldn't get over. 1. The Missions missions felt WAY too short, often lasting like 5-10 minutes max. They removed a lot of puzzles compared to older games, and big movie moments are often in cutscenes, and not gameplay, which felt like a wasted opportunity. It lacks in design depth. 2. Open World Tons of planets, with big areas, but yet... empty? Many of the areas feel repetitive, with fetch quests and lacking any meaningful interaction. Like it's big, but not engaging, just get what u need done next planet moving on. 3. Combat They added a new over the shoulder FPS type combat system, which felt modern, but button mashy, it isn't challenging, and they made saber combat extremely simplified. Not that LEGO games are known for complex combat, but they could've done something with it. It just doesn't feel like a true action game.. 4. Puzzles I am sorry but they just feel less creative. Followthe marker! Type objectives annoy me. I get it if there's a setting for it, but it's default and I just felt like there are less puzzles than previous installments. UI guides and waypoints were just way too simple. 5. Humor I'm old, I accept I'm biased, but I just really prefer silent comedy over this. The voice acting in theory is better, but the cheesy jokes, the overly forced humor, it felt bad. It's more of a retelling than a parody, instead of smirking or chuckling over the jokes, I just get a sense of "oh.." 5. Bugs When it launched, it was bugsgalore. But they DID patch it. They did put effort into the game, and I can't hold it against them, but it was pretty bad at launch. I would say this just shows they did care to patch it, which I appreciate that. 6. Characters I'll be honest, a massive roster (a kids dream), but in reality, it's just like a slight cosmetic change. All the characters are too similar, lacking identity. If they somehow made more of them feel unique, I'd be onboard, but instead it just feels washed. 7. Story Again, with the missions being short, a lot of the important stuff in cutscenes, the story's pace felt rushed, condensing things quite a bit, feeling like important things were just a highlight, and not lived. Now bottom line, I'm still recommending it, I think kids will love it, which I have to realize, that's truly what LEGO games are about. I think despite my problems with it, I think there are people who just wanted a modern Complete Saga, something we've been waiting for for a long time. I couldn't recommend this game enough with your child, or maybe a friend who just wants to chill and play a silly little game. This game does go on sale for 10 dollars, which is DEFINITELY worth it. So if you want to just create a memory with a youngster, go for it!
