This is what I can only describe as the most complete, incomplete game I have played in a while. Let's school is a sandbox tycoon simulator wherein you build a school, its facilities and run courses to help students graduate to their desired aspiration, which is a spot in higher education. TL:DR, I think this game is great, even if it likely will never be finished, it is in a good place as is and if you enjoy building nice looking things, you'll like this one. The negatives When starting your first game, I HIGHLY recommend setting the selling refund rate to 100% (You sell a building, you get all your money back.) This is because I have run into issues with the UI wherein selecting an object in a room I want to delete also selects the room the item is inside. I have accidentally sold many rooms and nearly went bankrupt many times due to my stupidity. - There is a soft locking bug involving editing buildings, which I am not sure how to replicate, but all you need to do is save, exit to menu and reload. This is the only game breaking bug I have run into. - If you enjoy making your school look nice and spending time on each individual part like I do, the game can become quite slow, so just make sure you have some extra classrooms to generate smooth income before sprucing things up. - The game has three different main 'threats,' that being fires, earthquakes and the occasional flu outbreak. Fires are largely irrelevant, once I sold my initial outdoor kitchen I never had a fire in my game. The flu outbreaks are easily solved if you have a doctor on site and sickness becomes completely irrelevant once you have the basic needs met. Earthquakes can often be a boon than a disaster as once you have tier 2 or 3 buildings, you'll gain money from Earthquakes from relief subsidies, meaning that all of the ways the game can throw interesting challenges at you becomes non existent or even a positive after a short while and the threats these things pose is not enough while they are still relevant in the early game. Limited amount of clubs but there are a good few very high quality ones on the steam workshop. The positives - fantastic management simulation which requires careful managing of the books as well as planning ahead for things such as management issues, support structures for your students, training, research, construction etc. - High levels of creative freedom to make your school. There is a grid based building system with some overlap allowance in your tiles, but for the most part you can make the school however you wish with plenty of tools to do so. - An absurd amount of content, ranging from many tiers of classes, a music class with a custom music creation tool, many different styles of furniture and buildings, dorms etc. However, I would describe the content as a large but knee deep pool. - cats - Wonderful art style. - The game runs smooth as butter. I have ran into zero performance issues even as my school became really big with a ton of students. The low poly art style will really help if you are running this on an older or lower end setup, I reckon this game could run perfectly fine on a laptop. Honestly, the game just feels nice, it's hard to put a finger on what feeling it gives other than that it just feels good to play and build a school up from the ground. It's not the most challenging game, but it is still worth it IMO.
Building your own school sounds like a common enough concept but it's surprising that for three years already there's still nothing else in the market that goes into as much detail as Let's School. No, 2P Campus is just a reskin of 2P Hospital. Anyway into the game. It's structured in one year terms divided into four seasons. Each seasons is seven days which is frankly way too short at the beginning - it does make things quick in lategame when you have dozen of class 2-Xs (my highschool actually had 10 class each grade lmao). Each student graduates after one year, and each season ends with exams. Graduate as many as possible to get money to build ♥♥♥♥ which attracts more students. You get four majors to focus your students - some require hybrid program but most can do with specialised. And that's it, it's clearly designed based on Asian school system which should be familiar for those who watch a lot of anime. The design tools provided is decent enough for the purpose - room-based constructions like Two Point builders. Now the headaches. There's still persistent bugs since release and slowdowns, and minute prospect for further updates. You always have to start with Humanities and Science hybrid - no option for direct Athletics/Music start. The student recruitment system sounds like good idea at start however it discouraged building mono-program schools, no La Masia for you. Needs mechanics in general is underbaked, and it's funny that every day when students arrive they pay money to enter instead of more realistic lump sum at term start. Yes they pay again for MBG and snacks. Still it is a good game, in fact as I told in the beginning the only game in this class. There's mods to fix things but as for now played vanilla it is worth the asking price.
Not worth the full price, it's unfinished and the devs pretty much confirmed they're not going to update it anymore. It's playable but gets repetitive soon. Buy it when it's discounted and you'll have fun. I'd say it's a hesitant yes and if there was a neutral option, I'd choose that
