The door is locked, and the place is unnervingly quiet. The horror feels like it's seeping from the walls themselves. A short, sharp, tightly focused psychological horror experience.

Ok, so I played this after reading all of the reviews and I gotta say some are correct, but not in the way you think. First and foremost, let me start by saying I am a horror game fanatic and this game has been one of the creepiest, weirdest and nerve-racking experiences I've had in awhile! I personally loved it! Now yes, a lot of reviews will say the walking speed is slow...it is. But I feel like it's actually a perfect speed because if you were to be able to walk faster, you could definitely miss alot of scares that are hiding in the corners and while it CAN be a little annoying if you accidentally walk to the wrong side of the hallway/area, the creepiness had me completley immersed to the point where it didn't bother me much because I was excited to see what happens when I do get to the correct side. The gameplay was a little confusing to me at first, but then I remebered a lot of reviews stated that the game is literally walking from one side of an area to the other over and over again....and while that may be true, let me say that they don't make it as boring as that might seem. You walk to the end of the hallway, attempting all doorknobs, cabinet drawers etc until you get to the other side...but when you turn around, something is always either changing or happening that leaves you questioning reality or dropping your jaw from pure surprise. The scares are immaculate and the ghosts are insanely creepy. I love that I can use the camera to take a picture(also let me add that the "shake the mouse to dry the photo" mechanic is chefs kiss to me)and there will be a ghost in the picture, basically standing directly in front of you but you can't see outside of the photo. Stuff like that creeps me out and all of these scares were right up my alley. The visuals and graphics are insane! I mean, yea it's not gonna be the greatest youve ever seen, but the way it can go from that glitchy 90's camcorder view to a regualar view kept me on edge and intrigued. There ARE jumpscares, which are mostly auditory, so watch your volume lol. But the jumpscares I love are the ones when you open a drawer, turn around and theres a ghost sitting there that wasn't there 2 seconds ago. Overall, if you are a big fan of this type of horror, it will give you the experience you are craving and I gotta say, I will probably even replay this game as well, that's how much I actually loved it!

Good story and schizophrenic jumpscares.

Here I go again, on my walking simulator, horror game kick, this time around I remembered Emika_games, a few years back I was reading a facebook article about the developer speaking about how people would buy the game, enjoy them, beat them and then refund them with in the two-hour refund period. I am pretty sure this was one of the games I purchased after reading that article and wanting to support the developer. After seeing the developers name it only took me a few moments to remember how awesome and creepy the two games of theirs I already played was and it took me all of about ten seconds to decide to give lockdown a whirl.. The store page says it was the first game by Emika_game so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. Story - The game starts you off in the woods, outside what I presume if your car. After picking up a flashlight (sorry Dead by Daylight fans, not that flashlight) you progress toward a house, a school house maybe? The creep factor is already off the charts as this developer has a complete knack for being a masterful storyteller using the atmosphere, whether it be a cackling of wood, or a knock on the door, or maybe just some laughter hidden away in some darkened corner, you’re almost always on edge…. Where was I at…. Oh yeah the story, while I’m not sure how much of the story I can give away without being spoilers, but you eventually find yourself in a haunted house of sorts and you’ll be forced to face some horrible truths, and some scary sights and soungs.. It’s like McKamey Manor, with out the torture, and fake promise of a hundred thousand dollars. Gameplay – You’re typical walking simulator fare, you can pick up various objects like photos, occasional notes, video tapes, and what not. The way forward normally requires you to do various actions, move around, inspect certain things, take some photos, etc etc etc. It’s not terrible complicated but it’s extremely creepy and unnerving. Pros Creepy Awesome soundtrack Edge of your seat entertainment Easy 100% (in the words of Borat, Yes!!!) Cons Kind of short, less then 2 hours for all the content Occasionally finding the trigger can be difficult without a guide Price to content ratio (12.99 for under 2 hours without replayability can be tough) Occasionally repetitive with the walking back and forth Recommendation Well I’ll start off by saying I can’t recommend Emika_ games well games enough, if you want a scary experience these games don’t fail to deliver. They are creepy, unnerving and leave you wondering what might happen next. Most games that have Jump Scares are cringe, this game isn’t, it seems like the Jump scares come at just the right moments. Even if you know they are coming they’ll still leave you like, WTF was that. Whether it’s a knock on the door, a weird laughing coming from a far off corner, or strange looking demonic creature whispering about never letting you leave, these games will keep you feeling uneasy, but not being able to stop until the end. So while some people might see the price of 12.99 and low amount of content and be a bit weary, I’d say take the plunge anyway. For 12.99 you can get like a cheese steak and some fries, or you can play a game for 2 hours that will leave you terrified and then go eat that Cheesesteak and fries after you’ve had a terrifyingly good time.

LOCKED UP A short creepy horror game that has a well done atmosphere even though the game is pretty straightforward and linear. It is the first game developed by EMIKA_GAMES and the first one I play from them. You move back and forth until you find out what the scripted item triggers the story forward. It is laid out in a confusing way so I do hope the next games by EMIKA are fleshed out more in the storytelling. Not a bad horror game but clealry not a great one either. The jump scare sounds were very annoying, especially the volume set-up all loud. For the achievement hunters out there... this game is quite easy to 100% so there's that! I would still recommend this game but in a deep sale. By the way... quite neat that end credits song!
