Palmyra Orphanage isn’t jump-out-of-your-chair scary, but it absolutely nails atmosphere and storytelling. From the very start, I was engaged, and by the end I was faced with a moral decision that genuinely affected how the story wrapped up — which I always appreciate. The game leans heavily into dark, oppressive environments and psychological tension. The jump scares are fairly obvious, but they didn’t feel cheap, and honestly, I wasn’t mad about them. What really got me was the anxiety — the kind where everything feels off, especially when the antagonist is nearby. You don’t see much of them up close until late in the game, but when they appear, reality starts to break down and you’re forced to hide and wait it out, which made for some genuinely stressful moments. There’s not a lot I can say without spoiling things, but for what it sets out to do, Palmyra Orphanage succeeds. I enjoyed my time with it, felt invested in the outcome, and walked away feeling like I got my money’s worth. Recommended.
