One of the best to ever do it. It has all the modern quality-of-life features you'd come to expect, and the art is consistently very high quality and does a great job actually looking like what it's supposed to represent. Be warned, as other commenters have mentioned, this is for seasoned nonogrammists. There are some BRUTAL puzzles in the late-game, and it required me to discover some new logic strategies that I haven't needed across the thousands of other Picross puzzles I've solved before.
definitely not recommended for those new to solving nonograms. but if you're an experienced solver, you'll have a blast with this game. great puzzles that require a lot of advanced logic (not edge logic or other bruteforce approaches!) and are well designed to be difficult throughout the entire solving experience. the puzzle quality is by far the best aspect of this game. i cannot emphasize enough how difficult this game is. even the 10x10s will whoop your butt. many puzzles feature a lot of "choke points" where you only have one or maybe two lines you can even make progress on. this is a neutral point for me. some people find frustration with not being able to make progress, i personally value the moment when you do eventually find it and can continue, it's a huge amount of satisfaction. you will improve as a solver by playing this game without assists. the total number of available puzzles are 280 main puzzles, 24 bonus "error" puzzles, 115 kickstarter bonus puzzles and 5 free dlc puzzles, ranging from 5x5, 10x10, 15x15, 20x20, 30x30, 40x30. the fusion mechanic is... awkward. it throws me out of the flow state and it feels more like a chore. all 6 available bgms are a bit repetitive. probably better to turn it off and listen to your own music. note: solved at 277/280 main puzzles without assists
This was the first game I bought for my Steam Deck in an effort to relive the glory days of my Nintendo handhelds in the pass. In a lot of ways this is identical to the Picross games with the exception of the "merge" mechanic. I wasn't a big fan of that, I found it to be just tedious but it did bring a nice sense of randomness to the progression I suppose. Overall it's great. If you've played Picross in the past you know exactly what you're signing up for. (I don't know if this needs to be said or not since it's a 2D game but the performance is perfect on Steam Deck)
