McPixel 3 is not a game for every pixel art fan. It is fast and full of crazy puzzles that can be tiring quickly. The way you progress is a bit confusing and often you need to try many times, so it can be hard without help. Some players may get frustrated, but others will like this strange and funny adventure. It’s a special game that is best played in short sessions with a sense of humor.

You guys remember like a decade ago when the original McPixel was viral around gaming YouTube? Well, they made a sequel. And I also made hefty use of the repeated cutscene skips & the function that shows what items/directions on-screen can be interacted with - great QoL additions. If you want more McPixel, this is it. (McPixel and Goat Simulator both did a thing where they marked the sequel as the third installment in the name as a gag, in case anyone got confused.) Now with achievements! Don't let the number frighten you... the vast majority of them you come across naturally, if not directly tied to solutions and gags you would see anyway if you are aiming for 100% each of the quick puzzles. I went for 100% for everything: puzzles, achievements, and free DLC, and (outside of needing to look up what I was missing a couple of times) my time still came in at under 12 hours.

A review for this one can't be other than short. McPixel 3 is a situation resolver in which you play through small levels where you can interact with and combine various items/people/whatever to "save the day". It's random, its silly, its fun. But don't look for sanity here. You'll enjoy minigames dipping into other genres like racing, shooting, brawling, platforming and more.

Overall = 8/10 Easy to play and simply built but with plenty of charm and silly cartoon humour. The humour is funny with a mix of the bizarre, random, puerile and farce with comedic timing and crazy antics, making it fun and entertaining to play. The basic pixel art is colourful and makes it easy to see what’s what most of the time and the quirky music adds to the experience, even if it does repeat a bit too often. There’s plenty of inventive levels and even more gags and secrets within them, but it does get repetitive and annoying when you can’t figure out the correct solution, especially when the interactive spots are a bit iffy at times. It’s bigger and better than the first game and makes for a dumb yet funny diversion, but I felt as though the hub area was a bit dull as the gags and secrets were few and far between and the Heist sequence lacked context. The currency system was also mostly pointless, although I can understand why it was included the way it was, and in general, the challenge of solving the levels, finding all the gags and achievements was about right.

Have you ever played a game where you pressed the "interact" button to open a door, only to instead have the game interpret it as that you wanted to climb through the adjacent broken window, end up cutting your hands, and bleed subsequently to death? If you want those kind of things to happen over and over again, buy McPixel.
