Megastore Simulator has some of the deepest systems I’ve seen in a grocery store simulator, especially for a game that has only been in Early Access for about a month. The logistics alone already put it above a lot of other store sims. You can move multiple boxes at once with a dolly, manage deliveries through a loading dock, organize a real backroom with racks, and eventually unlock equipment like forklifts and reach trucks. That kind of warehouse realism makes the game feel much closer to running an actual store rather than just stocking shelves. The management side is also surprisingly detailed. Employees have traits like movement speed and work speed, they need to be scheduled, and you can assign them to specific departments so they aren’t running all over the store. If you don’t manage money well and can’t pay them, they will actually quit. Small details like pallets costing money unless you recycle them show how much thought the developer is putting into the systems. The store itself grows in really cool ways too. There are multiple departments to unlock like bakery, electronics, sports, candy, and toys, and the store eventually expands to a second level with escalators. The progression feels meaningful because new equipment and departments actually change how you manage the store. Since it’s still Early Access there are some rough edges that will hopefully get polished over time, but the core systems are already very strong. If the developer keeps updating and refining things, this could easily become one of the best grocery store simulators out there.

To be completely transparent here, Megastore Simulator is really only going to appeal to sim perverts like myself. The routine here is pretty simple: order products, stock shelves, and cash people out. But after a certain point, the game becomes more of a warehouse simulator, which is both a good and bad thing. It was legitimately satisfying to slowly get more space in the back room, start ordering pallets of products, and then loading the pallets up onto shelves you've placed yourself. However, after a certain point, it doesn't really feel like you're improving. The retail area slowly grows bigger over time as you unlock more upgrades, but after a certain point you start to realize that it really doesn't take nearly that much space to stock every item in the game. On the warehouse side, the problem is the opposite. There's only so much space to put up shelving, and even after trying to maximize space, I still couldn't fit a pallet of every item in the game. As an added annoyance, as you upgrade, you go from using a manual pallet jack, to an electric one, and then you get a forklift, which is a bit cumbersome, but is a huge game changer. The problem is, once you get the final version of the forklift (I forget what it's called), you can start stacking pallets all the way up to the ceiling, but the actual vehicle has such squirrely handling and teeters so much that it becomes a pain in the ass to maneuver, especially because by the time you get it, your warehouse is likely to have a bunch of fairly tight corridors. You may be wondering why I'm still recommending this game after having so many criticisms about it, but it's because there's still a really strong core here and the game is still in it's very early iterations. What I'd like to see in the future: A better balance between cost and profits and the ability to mark items up all at once. New departments (movies, video games, housewares, Butcher, deli, seafood, etc) Better looking and fuller looking shelves (have CD racks instead of just putting CDs in wicker baskets, etc) More customization options for walls, floors, signage, etc. An easier way to rearrange items on shelves.

Having played Supermarket Simulator since the beginning and several 'clones' ( some good, some bad ), I anticipated more of the same - none, up til now, had come close to how great Supermarket Simulater is ... until now. I did not think it possible, but Megastore Simulator far surpasses it - in so many ways! First you can chooses whether to start as a Grocery Store OR three other options. The graphics quality is amazing. Your store is literally a Supermarket with numerous departments ( Music, Electronics, clothing, sports, bakery, toys, etc., ). The Restockers are so much more realistic and so much more flexible than Supermarket Simulator. Megastore Simulator is the new leader of the Store simulators, in my opinion. OH! I nearly forgot! The number of varied customers is vast! Much more than Supermarket Simulator's dozen different Customers - variable clothing and faces. As for the Warehouse system ... it could be it's own Simulator all on its own! Most definitely wins the 'Supermarket Simulator' default and leaves Supermarket Simulator ( my previous 'gold standard' in the dust ) 10/10

One small but very important thing at the beginning: the hand truck (dolly) is extremely helpful early on. Moving boxes and pallets manually would be a pain without it, so having this tool right from the start makes the opening hours much more enjoyable and less frustrating. Another detail I really like is that the NPCs actually talk. It may sound small, but it adds a lot of life to the store and makes the environment feel more alive instead of silent and empty like in many simulator games. Performance wise, the game runs very well. I experienced stable FPS and no major stutters, even as the store grew bigger and busier. That’s something many simulation games struggle with, so this is a big plus. A standout feature for me is the second floor. The idea of expanding vertically and reaching it via an escalator is great, and it’s not just cosmetic the upper floor is fully usable and adds real depth to store planning and expansion. Overall, Megastore Simulator already has a strong foundation with smart ideas, good performance, and quality-of-life features that show the developers really understand this genre. I’m definitely looking forward to future updates. What really deserves a special mention is the developer. You can clearly feel how much love and effort is being put into this game. The dev is very active on Discord, communicates openly, listens to feedback, and works closely with the community. On top of that, official mod support is planned, which gives the game huge long term potential and shows real commitment to the player base.
