Meteor World Actor: Badge & Dagger is the sequel to Meteor World Actor, a Visual Novel that sadly never released on Steam. If you're at all interested in this one, play the previous game first - it will give you a lot of background context and it's an excellent VN, one of my personal favorites. I would not recommend playing it stand-alone, though - definitely play the first one. This sequel is a lot shorter than the first game - reading fast it only took me almost 6 hours to finish it. The first game in comparison took me probably about 20+ hours and has a lot of different routes, whereas this really only has two, one of which being the main route and one being a small side route. Even so, the writing and characters remain excellent in this sequel, with Ruka, the protagonist, being the same loveable rude dork with a heart of gold and everyone bullying Ruka for fun, with the overall story continuing his chase for the cult. The story overall doesn't move forward that much and it reuses most of the same music and sprites from the first game, making the game feel more like MWA Version 1.5 than a true sequel; but now that the third and final game is in development, we can hopefully get a conclusion soon. The ending is a major cliffhanger as well. Even so, if you liked the first game, this is a must-read. The writing is incredibly charming with it's witty back-and-forths between the characters, the world remains interesting and it sets up things nicely for the coming third game. A definite recommendation!

Before playing this VN, you must have played Meteor World Actor first since this is an expansion of the first game. That said... Few VNs make me finish all the routes while also keeping me intrigued by the plot and what happens next. Meteor World Actor + Meteor World Actor: Badge & Dagger are VNs that are not perfect due to their unfinished endings, routes with conclusions that leave quite a few things in question, and unexplored lore, but other than that, they are incredible in every sense. *The protagonist is unique (at least in VNs) / With a goal that differs from his position as a detective *The OST is great / Openings and Endings are pretty good too *I personally like the artwork in both VNs *Memorable characters / Each with their own personality, goals and problems *Good plot *A world in a dystopian city with magic + fantasy / With lore explaining why it is always night, races, organizations, etc. The first installment, Meteor World Actor, is more complete in every way but they share one thing between the two, which is that they have unfinished endings XD. The sequel, Meteor World Actor: Badge & Dagger, has much less content (at most 10 hours of gameplay) with only 2 routes, which are Fuyumi and Ryoko being the true route. I wish it had more content overall, but oh well. Meteor World Actor 8/10 As I mentioned before, it’s not perfect due to its unfinished endings, both in the true route and the waifu routes, and I know the protagonist’s personality can be a bit annoying for some people, personally i love it XD. Meteor World Actor: Badge & Dagger 7/10 Well, the same as the previous one + the content it brings, which is honestly very little, but it still leaves you wanting more. If you like VNs with an interesting detective storyline, featuring a unique and adult MC, this one is for you. Oh, and I saw that they’re going to release the final installment called Meteor World Actor: Gaslight Bullet coming out in February. I’m really looking forward to it and I hope it gets translated quickly.

Forewarning to anyone not yet aware: this is not a real sequel or part 2. It's more like episode 1.5 (light novel style), where not much happens. It isn't a fandisc, so there's no "fan service" or anything but, the few h-scenes are really just shoehorned in and feel out of place, as if someone added them at the last minute, remembering it was an eroge. Additionally, it's not a big deal, but there's basically no new music (though the OST is still good), mostly reused CGs and backgrounds. Even though it info dumps relevant information if you haven't read the first one, this is essentially a story that doesn't stand on its own. Overall, it's still the same Ryuusei World Actor, so if you liked the first part, you'll enjoy this mini episode as well.

I wish that I had listened or even read the reviews before. Don't consider buying this game if you're planning on getting a full fleshed-out story or any freedom in story progression - or worded differently - getting heroine routes of some sort, because this is not what this game provides. However, if you're also planning on getting the Prequel aswell - just not on Steam unfortunately - this can actually be a really good read. The verse the world is set in, aswell as the characters are appealing and lets one wish that there would be more explorable routes. I can totally recommend this game to anyone who is willing to buy the Prequel outside of Steam but for anyone else it will probably leave a bad aftertaste because Badge & Dagger doesn't really work as a standalone title - well it isn't in the first place.

A well deserved sequel to the first MWA. While the romance side of this iteration is much more weaker compared to the first game, it's exchanged with a much more developed plot for the main storyline even if the sequel have a much shorter playtime. Hopefully there would be a third game for the series which expand even more of the setting and Ruka story! Komachi and Claris best girl fight me.
