This game was pretty nice 20 dollars for 3 hours of story maybe a bit much but honestly the pros carry it. Let me preface by saying i grew up in the 2000s so i have zero clue what the 90s was like as a teen. The game has an awesome soundtrack that really exposed me to some really good songs, it has a nice bittersweet story, insanely good art style, and some really funny moments 7/10 i wish it was a bit longer but length doesnt always equal quality this game is a great testament to that.

Should have been an animated movie or tv show. I'm a big fan of the slice of life genre. This game does what it sets out to do well. It tells a little coming of age story to the soundtrack of their lives. It's nothing special, but that's completely fine with me and for the genre. Maybe it could have done with some love elements to increase the stakes, but it works as it is. Music picks ranges from fair to excellent, so no complaints there. I think, where this fails to deliver is the game aspect. Why is this a game? You want to take advantages of the interactive medium when you create a game. But there is no user agency. At no point can you do anything to direct the life paths of our protagonists. The mini games are barely serviceable and surely not the reason you would pick this game up - the low frame rate style destroys flow and the half baked gameplay, makes you think you'd be better off playing some retro c64 game from the discount bin. As soon as you try to experiment and see if you can do something cool like sliding a rail with the skateboard or latching on to a car for a ride you are only rewarded with breaking the flow of the moment. Or even worse is the the interactive session of filming the party, where you get stuck too long walking around trying to find the last meaningless interactions so you can proceed. The only reason this is a game I would say is the narrative trick of letting you click on stuff to know more about them, but is that truly the best narrative style for telling a story or just convenient? I recommend the game. I got what I came for, but the interactive aspects left me wanting or wanting them gone. 7/10

Oh. My. God. If you grew up in the 90s, Mixtape hits every note. You’ll probably finish the game in one sitting, but it is packed with stylish animation, emotional highs and lows, pop culture references and an absolutely fantastic soundtrack. I was grinning the entire way through. Click on everything, exhaust all dialogue, and enjoy this amazing digital time capsule of a game. For the price of a CD thirty years ago, the price is also more than fair.

I was not old enough to play life is strange. I was not born to experience the 80s. I had not played a game which made feel a feeling that I had never felt before playing any video game that touched my core, and made me realise that my young adult years are running out and I have to do what I can to make most of it while it last, while being carefree and enjoying the tunes of music long past. Tonight, I played just that game.

All the cushiest nostalgic vibes of Life Is Strange and Lost Records with a banging soundtrack and likeable characters. Gameplay is varied and switches up wonderfully. At one point you're hanging out in the quintessential 90s teenager den and the next you're going downhill full speed in a shopping cart. The game is a vibe of the highest caliber.
