You know you are a real gamer (or loser) when you wake up at 5AM whilst on vacation because you are eagerly anticipating a new release >.> And so far, I have no regrets! I find it sometimes hard to get overtly excited about a farming sim because of how bloated the genre has become. You are just seeing rehashed concepts and mechanics over and over again, with no creativity. So for me, I need something that really stands out to stay engaged. The attention to detail in this game does not go unnoticed and that is where it shines and sets itself apart. The vibes remind me a lot of ‘Wylde Flowers’ in terms of the vibrant cast, unique world and story/questing based progression. The game holds true to the vampiresque, cozy gothic aesthetic as advertised. From the absolutely adorable character creation and art to the darker hued colour palette and spooky themes found throughout the map. Just feels very whimsy and fun. You farm by moonlight and slumber during the day, you even rise from a coffin and grow blood grapes. Little endearing touches. They captured the tone very well. The tutorial doesn’t feel rushed and you are slowly eased into the game as the story progresses which I appreciate. The controls are very intuitive and you have a tool wheel which you can customize to your liking. There are all the things you find in life/farming sims… farming, foraging, crafting, fishing, cooking, decorating, critter collecting. They aren’t tedious. Crafting is simple, fishing isn’t unnecessarily complicated, watering crops is streamlined so you don’t have to sit there entertaining one square at a time. It plays like a modernized simming experience. I won’t get into the story because half the fun is experiencing that on your own. But what’s keeping me entertained at the moment is the world. Take your time and explore it, take it all in. It’s richly crafted in terms of detail and very pleasant on the eyes. This game doesn’t rush you. So explore every nook and cranny. While the map seems large at first, with new areas to unlock and discover, it is really informative and user friendly. The whole interface is well done and easy enough to navigate. No frustrations or complaints so far! Love how well thought out this game feels. The characters seem thoughtfully created and animated with their interactions. You can select your responses as you interact with them which elicits varied responses, reactions and their character profile changes throughout the dialogue which makes it feel pretty immersive. Because of this, relationship progression doesn’t feel stale. Looking forward to romancing me a werewolf ;) I’ve run into no problems playing on my steam deck thus far. Everything feels top notch. It’s fun. It’s relaxing. It leaves you wanting more but encourages you to progress at your own pace. They didn’t reinvent the wheel, but they didn’t have to. They made gameplay that can sometimes feel tedious more simplistic and comfortable. What sets this game apart is the creativity seen in the world, characters and story, and how effortlessly it all weaves together. Overall, this is a really polished addition to the cozy farming genre that I can’t wait to explore and sink my teeth into! UPDATES My biggest QoL gripe so far would be the storage/crafting situation. Currently, you do not draw from your storage containers when crafting. The items need to be in your active inventory or in the house storage, which is different from the storage boxes that you craft. This is just confusing and a bit silly. Make it all one universal storage system please!! Hoping this gets some improvements in future patches. More than 10 hours on release day should already tell you how obsessed I am! 😆 It's rare for me to want to write a steam review since I'm usually sharing my thoughts about games on other platforms but this truly deserves one! Despite being completely exhausted and dealing with what feels like the worst jet lag I've ever had, I still stayed up until midnight to buy this the second it launched and immediately started playing because I was just too excited (thankfully I had the next day off work!). This is exactly what I've been waiting for and something I've felt has been missing from my rotation for a long time. It's already earned a spot among my all-time favorite farm/life sim games alongside Fields of Mistria, Coral Island, and the Rune Factory series. If you know me, you know I'm actually a proud farm sim hater despite loving cozy games. I usually find farming itself very boring and monotonous, so for a game in this genre to really hook me it needs either plenty of other activities I can hyperfocus on or an engaging story with memorable characters. Thankfully, this game absolutely delivers on both! I'll admit I went in a little skeptical. The demo didn't really sell me on the scope of the world or the gameplay, and aesthetically it reminds me a lot of Fae Farm; so after hearing about the huge number of romanceable NPC's, I was worried they'd end up feeling shallow in the same way. I've never been happier to be wrong! I love that the story feels much more like an adventure/RPG than a typical farming sim. There's always something happening, there's actual drama LOL, and the world feels alive. Every character has a distinct personality and relationships with the people around them which makes the town feel lived in rather than populated by NPC's who exist solely to hand out quests. I also truly do appreciate the diversity among the characters, this level of inclusivity is rare to see but means the world to me. Thank you devs! The world itself is much larger than I expected with several areas I still haven't unlocked, and I'm really happy with the transformations that make navigating such a sizeable town much easier. Another small but incredibly adorable detail is the alternate NPC portraits. It's such a unique little touch that I've never seen incorporated before, and I just think it's really cute. To my surprise, I'm actually enjoying the farming mechanics this time around, and the crafting has to be my favorite! I'm not even sure why but it's just so satisfying to me 😆. There are cute mini games, and there seems to be an enormous catalogue of furniture and decorations which is always my end goal in games like these, so I'm really looking forward that. Fishing is okay. It's not the most exciting and I do wish there was a bit more to it but thankfully it's never annoying or tedious, and I'd say the same about mining. Now for my biggest complaint: the map and menu situation. This is honestly the only part of the game that has consistently frustrated me. It's definitely a personal nitpick but I really dislike having to open the menu and then tab over to the map instead of having a dedicated map button. It becomes even more noticeable since there's no mini-map or easy way to track NPC's. On top of that, characters disappear from the map when they're inside buildings unless you hover over that specific building which can make tracking people down for quests unnecessarily cumbersome. My only other minor criticism (trust me I know this one is very personal 😂) is the clothing selection. I'd love to see a lot more outfit options, especially since there's a dedicated clothing shop. The current selection is serviceable, but not much has really stood out to me personally. I'm hoping it's the case that more styles will unlock as the game progresses. All of my hours so far have been played on my Steam Deck, and it's been amazing! I only encountered one issue where a particular cutscene repeatedly froze my game, forcing me to replay the same day three times. Thankfully, verifying the integrity of the game files seemed to have fixed the probelm and since then it's been a nearly flawless experience. After more than 10 hours, I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface of everything this game has to offer. There's an incredible amount of content here, and it's obvious how much love and care went into every aspect of its development. For me, it's absolutely worth the asking price, and I can already tell I'll be spending countless more hours in the magical world of Moonlight Peaks 💖💖💖

When I don't have a definitive answer, I default to POSITIVE, but I want to really drive home that my experience thus far hasn't blown my mind. The map is gigantic, which is fine when your movement speed is high or when you have a minimap, but because the entire game is basically shades of purple it makes those initial hours of wandering about extremely confusing because everything looks the exact same. I'm sure I won't feel that way eventually after I've spent dozens of hours in the game world but these games live and die by their first few hours, especially given the sheer volume of games in this genre releasing every other week, and honestly the feeling of being disoriented, lost and aimless is not a great introduction. Please just... implement some kind of minimap so I don't need to be checking the map every few steps. Make it a toggle if it gets in the way with UI so much. I don't like having to click out of talking to someone. Just map the gift feature onto another button so I can give things to characters when I want, rather than having to manually select that I don't want to give anything at the end of every single interaction. I'm sorry but I have no idea why this made it through beta. More community input would've signalled this! I love that there's a few options to customise gameplay, but in honesty I have no idea what I'm customising when these options don't have a visual attached and are labeled stuff like 1 and 2. "Portrait type"? Just add in a little window that shows one and the other so I can pick. I have no idea what "Portrait type 1" means. Again; just very straightforward UI/UX problems. I love that there are options, but I'm also really big on a smooth and frictionless experience as far as cozy-style games are concerned! :> This one is very much a me thing but I don't like it when music in cozy games isn't properly looped. It is a big jarring and brings me out of the experience a little bit. This isn't really a criticism, I realise it's a very small thing, but I just wanted to comment on how I feel about it anyway. Lastly, the loading screens clock at north of 3 seconds at time, which as pedantic as it sounds just doesn't seem right. Not for my computer anyway. I'm lucky to not have any hitching (I have a RTX5080 and a Ryzen 5 7600), but I've seen some players report they're getting heavy hitching and one of them even had a better GPU than I do. I don't know if the game is particularly CPU-bound but in iCUE this game doesn't seem to be stressing my computer whatsoever, so the strange intrusive loadings feel a bit strange. Usually this wouldn't be a problem at all, but you go in and out of places constantly in games like this and having a 3+ second stop every single time will surely become grating. I don't mean to sound ungrateful or spoiled but again, I have a very expensive rig and most games in this genre have nearly instant loadings. To me, this, coupled with the reports of hitching while walking about, indicates that there's some kind of problem with content streaming engine-side. Doesn't seem to get worse as play session increases (I played a full 4 hour session today) so doesn't seem to be a memory leak. If it were me, while working to fix that (if it's even possible) I'd just add some neat cute things to the loading that the player can look at. Maybe cute artwork of the characters. I will be updating this with more observations that I may find as I play on, but I have very high hopes for this game! :> Thank you if you read this much!

If you're into the typical cozy farm sim games ie Rune Factory, Harvest Moon, etc; you'll definitely like this. This game is super polished in both gameplay and aesthetics and the character dialogue is actually interesting and has gotten a chuckle from me. The character portraits are gorgeous. In one session it was pretty easy to lose six hours without realizing. Oh, and for once, the fishing isn't a torture method, it's simple and fast with no nuisances. Watering is also painless because you water like 4 blocks at a time, and can just hold the button and walk around so it only takes a few seconds. You can move generators around even while they have things inside them. They offered a lot of quality of life with simple choices like that, which I really appreciate!

Holy cow it’s addicting. Very cute and has perfected the “just one more night” (you’re a vamp, you do your vamp stuff at night) cycle… it’s nearly 3am, I gotta sleep, My only gripe is the loading screens. Awful loading screens.
