Running the game during busy days helps pass the time, and the idle mechanics operate quietly in the background without getting in the way. With no urgency or pressure, letting things sit for a while feels fine. Watching the small residents go about their routines pairs surprisingly well with louder music, and household cats often seem curious about the moving pixels. Earning points unlocks various decorative items, giving players something to work toward. The focus stays on experiencing the available content, though features like character customization or death aren’t included. The extra space for arranging layouts helps the game stand out a bit from similar idle, and finding hidden easter eggs adds a small layer of fun. Overall, it provides a mild, stress free experience that fans of simple idle games may appreciate.
I'd recommend My Little Life. It's a decent mini-sized Sims game with options to run the game either horizontally or vertically on your desktop. Like those games you just earn points to unlock and purchase stuffs to decorate. The goal is really just to see all there is to see. There's no sense of urgency and it's fine to just let it sit idle. There's no death or character customization though. I suppose what sets it apart from other idle/desktop games is that this one gives you more space for creating something unique. There's some easter eggs that make it fun too. That's about it.
I wish that this game had character customization, but otherwise I enjoy it. It's a nice idler. A solid 4/5. I think it would be elevated to 5/5 if you could customize characters via appearance and interests. Even though it's a little repetitive once you start a second run, since the characters motivations don't change and they're the same every time, I still like building a little house for my little people. The art is really cute and it's a good price for the amount of enjoyment I've gotten out of it. It's a nice little bit of whimsy while I'm doing documents for my job and is a good thing to keep my hands and eyes slightly busy during classes, but isn't too distracting. There's so many fun items to use for decorating, too, and I really enjoy that.
