I feel as tho this game has made me a better person, neah this game has not - for it is art. for thousands of years humans have evolved and made better that which came before us craftsmanship, community, technology, and art; art which is key to our foundation as a sentient and dominant lifeform. this art is the culmination and peak of our advancements as a society and species as a whole, it is the last good thing ever made for everything after its creation is muddied and darked by the shadow this artistic masterpiece has cast upon all life and all things that have came after it, it has made everything so dark that i wish not too see anymore. I have scoped out my eyes and stomped on them so that the images in my mind of this masterpiece my not be tainted by the overwriting accumulation of memory from seeing anything else, i have shoved ice picks in my ears so that i shall never hear another sound which may confuse my brain when recalling the sweet melody of the songs and sounds of this masterpiece, i have killed all those dear and close too me so that i may never love again anything which is inferior to this. i sit in darkness waiting for death just thinking about all the neko waifus, knowing that when i may eventually be released from this mortal vessel which binds me to this reality and keeps me from my neko waifus, that i may pass on into the afterlife where i know that Allah will bless me in heaven with my very own neko waifus and that i may forever live in pure ecstasy for forever and eternity, forgetting all that was before me so that i may only be focused on my new life and my very own neko waifus in heaven. <3
Well, I would recommend the game for its art style and yuri elements, which honestly is, as I suspect, why most people end up getting it. However, the cultural portrayal really bothered me. As we all know, the Mosaique Neko Waifus series’ text is almost always boring and cringe, but this time it crossed a line for me. In one of the levels, a character named “Chen” (an overused, stereotypical Chinese name) talks about being “very proud of my country and my tradition,” yet is depicted wearing traditional Japanese clothing. It comes across as a careless conflation of Chinese and Japanese cultures. It feels less like intentional representation and more like using “East Asian” aesthetics interchangeably, which is disappointing. That disconnect seriously pulled me out of the experience.
