This game series has a longer history than people might expect. Back in the day, it was already a fun game on 1990s consoles. Total nostalgia if you were lucky enough to play it back then. The game concept is stunning, and I don't know any other arcade game that offers this kind of game mode or way of playing. Therefore, it totally deserves its place in gaming history. Highly recommended.
After nearly 2 decades, the originally Japanese exclusive Gamecube title "Mr. DRILLER DrillLand" would finally be made available in English for PC and as a fan of the previous entries in the series I couldn't be more thrilled to get this on sale. That being said, I should emphasize I was happy to get this on sale. While I had never had a chance to play the original it gave me the chance to finally experience this game and it's a very fun installment to the Mr. Driller franchise, the last time we'd seen him in the US being the DSiWare/Xbox Live Arcade era. This game's set in the amusement park "DrillLand" in which 5 themed attractions starring different members of the Hori family embark on, with different abilities, and it's got this fun, arcade-y repetition to it like a Mr. Driller should. I'd say it's probably the best modern offering for Mr. Driller unless you want to find the DS games or the PS1 game, however this game has this huge con of while it totally works with gamepad controls, the game's UI doesn't change the inputs based upon this, so you're just stuck always looking at keyboard button indicators. I've also seen it stutter for other folks. On the performance side I've had no issue with the game, but with these two cons that could be pretty easily fixed in a patch I feel I can really only recommend this game fully if it's on sale.
Mr. Driller DrillLand has finally made the arrival to North America after being stuck on the Nintendo GameCube for 18 years in Japan. DrillLand is full of fun adventures, I can get to play as different Characters, and back in 2020 Mr. Driller DrillLand got released for the Nintendo Switch and PC and, in 2021 the game got released for the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 5, the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X and S. And now, North America is finally happy to have Mr. Driller DrillLand on modern consoles!
